Michael Bublé - Michael Buble

Michael Bublé - He writes himself with a french accent at the end, but in the English speaking countries he's mostly refered to as Michael Buble.

This Canadian singer with a voice that does not need an orchestra to back it up has taken the hearts of millions. He loves the songs of Frank Sinatra, Paul Anka and others from days long gone and he also manages to sing songs with a more up to date arrangement. Whatever he sings, it sounds warm and wonderful!

Michael Buble Call Me Irresponsible

It's no coincidence that Michael Buble's new album starts with just his voice and some fingersnaps on "The Best Is Yet to Come," a song made famous by Frank Sinatra.

The Canadian smoothie looks longingly towards early-'60s Vegas, an impression quickly reinforced when a boisterous horn section makes its grand entrance, about 20 seconds into the track. That Buble means business is confirmed by the second cut, a fast-paced take on Henry Mancini's "It Had Better Be Tonight," and of course by the CD's very title, another song identified with Sinatra as his cockiest.

There are just a few sidesteps from the retro formula that's served Buble so well so far: a languid duet with Brazilian star Ivan Lins on the bossa "Wonderful Tonight," a gospel choir on "That's Life." Interestingly, Michael Buble co-wrote the best of those sidesteps, "Everything," a Norah Jones-esque number that alluringly harks back to sunny '70s pop. It's also the only song on the album produced by Bob Rock (best known for his work with Metallica), sending out a strong signal that Buble should reach out to unlikely collaborators more often. -- Elisabeth Vincentelli

Call Me Irresponsible

1. The Best Is Yet To Come
2. It Had Better Be Tonight (Meglio Stasera)
3. Me And Mrs. Jones
4. I'm Your Man
5. Comin' Home Baby (duet with Boyz II Men)
6. Lost
7. Call Me Irresponsible
8. Wonderful Tonight (duet with Ivan Lins)
9. Everything
10. I've Got The World On A String
11. Always On My Mind
12. That's Life
13. Dream

Though the ghosts of Frank Sinatra and Peter Allen still battle for his soul, in his new CD "Call Me Irresponsible" Michael Buble has finally found his own voice and personality. For those who doubt that his channeling Harry Connick Jr. channeling Frank Sinatra schtick is done, jump to his rendition of the Sinatra signature song "That's Life" and listen to his unaffected vocal amid the combination of both gospel choir and big band.

Looking for other sources of inspiration has led Buble to Billy Paul for "Me And Mrs. Jones" which is done in a more matter-of-fact manner than the hand-wringing original; to Jack Jones for the title cut "Call Me Irresponsible" which is more laid back than the original despite the big band arrangement; to Eric Clapton whose "Wonderful Tonight" becomes a lovely Latin love song with assistance from the great Ivan Lins; and to Willie Nelson whose "Always On My Mind" is a beautiful song which gets the beautiful voice it deserves. A wide variety of sources and styles that Michael masters and makes his own.

Two polished diamonds that cement the new identity are "Everything" in which all previous influences are absent and it is Michael Buble emerging as his own man and the tender and laid back "I'm Your Man."

Special mention must go to the arrangements which swing when they need to and modulate for the tender moments such as "Lost." The upbeat arrangements of "It Had Better Be Tonight" (which can only be described as big band Italian salsa) and "Comin' Home Baby" (with it's backing vocals from Boyz II Men) are just brilliant.

A must for fans and a step towards world dominance by this Canadian superhero, this is a wonderful leap forward for an artist who in the past has been weighed down by his influences. But as he warns us all with the CD opener, "The Best Is Yet To Come." -- Alan Dorfman "JukeboxJunkie812" (DELRAY BEACH, FL United States)

Michael Buble It's Time

Michael Buble's tireless years of globe-trotting touring he spent promoting, elevated the 20-something Vancouver native into the first rank of pop crooner revivalists.

His sophomore studio follow-up largely turns on the same formula that helped make his considerable vocal prowess so attractive to mainstream audiences, mixing the nigh flawless, if expected Sinatra- channeling ("I've Got You Under My Skin") with more playful and inviting renditions of pop standards like the Gershwin's "A Foggy Day in London Town," "Feeling Good," "Try A Little Tenderness" and Cole Porter's "I've Got You Under My Skin."

But it's the eclectic mix of more contemporary material the singer seasons them with -- apt tribute to Buble hero Bobby Darin -- that keeps him walking the narrow tightrope between artistic intrigue (a blues-tinged vamp of Holland-Dozier-Holland's "How Sweet It Is," Leon Russell's lovely "Song For You," with a guest turn by Chris Botti) and the kitsch-laden abyss ("Quando, Quando, Quando"'s Euro-centric duet with Nelly Furtado, a ring-a-ding-fling with the Beatles' "Can't Buy Me Love" that echoes fellow Canadian crooner/rival Matt Dusk's more successful flirtation with Lennon-McCartney).

Arranger/producer Tommy LiPuma offers Buble a welcome swinging jazz showcase on "The More I See of You," a bracing respite from the rest of producer David Foster's slick, if typically bloodless MOR production. -- Jerry McCulley

Oh my this cd is soooooooo hot. My eardrums are smokin' and so will yours. David Foster and Humberto Gatica prove once again that their partnership in sound production has no rival for attention in my ears.

Michael Bublé and Nelly Furtado sing a sentimental samba duet that sealed my affection at track four. "Quando, Quando, Quando" is so outstanding. It starts with a gentle guitar by Heitor Pereira and spectacular flute by Dan Higgins. The echo of Nelly Furtado's voice is lovely and her voice is so compatible with Michael's. Then they sing together and her harmony with his is just incredible.

I think the tempo changes and Big-Band arrangement of "Can't Buy Me Love" show off Michael Bublé at his vocally versatile finest. "The More I See You" is another smokin' swing treat.

I was thinking at about track 8 with the saucy, latin "Save The Last Dance for Me" that there is just no way I can handle anymore musical tenderness today. And then I hear the ballad "Try a Little Tenderness" at track 9 (the piano by Randy Waldman creates mood du jour). Jochem Van der Saag's keyboard and harmonica contributions on "How Sweet it Is" are remarkable at track 10. I'm sure at that point in the disc I can't stand anymore when Chris Botti's trumpet and Michael's voice on "Song for You" reduced me to pathetic pile of pudding. I was toast - both sides.

I think this cd is even better than Michael's debut and I have to say his first cd blew me away. I will never tire of this audio heaven. Never. -- MovedbyMusic

Michael Buble - Michael Bublé

Michael Buble's first album

Pop's rush to raid the cradle continues with this promising debut by 25-year-old Canadian singer Michael Buble. And while the young vocal star's good looks are smart enough for a boy band, his muse seems to have sprung from a more sassy and compelling musical era.

Mentored by Paul Anka (whose '50s hit "Put Your Head on My Shoulder" is covered in dreamy, cabaret fashion here), Buble sings in the orbits of Darin and Sinatra, covering swing epoch gems ("Come Fly with Me," "The Way You Look Tonight," "That's All") and rock era standards (Van Morrison's "Moondance," "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" by the Brothers Gibb, Queen's "Crazy Little Ting Called Love") with equal aplomb.

David Foster's production is typically slick and played to the back row of the bleachers, but it's informed by smart contexts provided by such arrangers as Johnny Mandel, Randy Waldman, and Mike Melvoin. If the choices of material are sometimes staid and predictable, they also give the singer a crucial framework for building toward something more challenging; his is a bright future. -- Jerry McCulley

Michael Buble Lyrics Everything

You're a falling star, You're the get away car.
You're the line in the sand when I go too far.
You're the swimming pool, on an August day.
And you're the perfect thing to say.

And you play you're coy, but it's kinda cute.
Ah, When you smile at me you know exactly what you do.
Baby don't pretend, that you don't know it's true.
Cause you can see it when I look at you.

[Chorus:]
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, You make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

You're a carousel, you're a wishing well,
And you light me up, when you ring my bell.
You're a mystery, you're from outer space,
You're every minute of my everyday.

And I can't believe, uh that I'm your man,
And I get to kiss you baby just because I can.
Whatever comes our way, ah we'll see it through,
And you know that's what our love can do.

[Chorus:]
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, You make me sing
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La
So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La

[Chorus:]
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, You make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
You're every song, and I sing along.
'Cause you're my everything.
Yeah, yeah

So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La
So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La, La, La, La, La
