The captured footage was originally intended for Michael's private library, it was never meant to be shown to the general public. It chronicles rehearsals from April through June 2009, the film is drawn from more than one hundred hours of behind-the-scenes footage. Instead it turned out to be a motion picture, that captured his creativity, passion and devotion to his work.

Audiences have been given a privileged and private look at the singer and dancer as he created and perfected his final show. It's a very private look into Michael's creative world. For the first time ever, fans saw Michael as they have never seen him before, artistry in motion. It is a raw, emotional, moving film (that at times is hard to watch), capturing his interactions with musicians, singers, dancers, musical director, etc. This film shows Michael (who possesses a perfectionist personality), who truly was a consummate performer working with and guiding dancers, band members, choreographers, special effects people and countless other creative members of the team for his final "This Is It" historic 50 concerts in London. The live shows in London would have been spectacular.

Because this film was not staged (raw content), audience got a chance to see Michaels' true self. It shows what a gentle, unique soul Michael truly was. He was such a humble, gracious, kind person. THIS IS IT movie is a gift to Michael's fans. I believe Sony Pictures captured something extraordinary, unique and very special. The sad irony is, Michael finally became a legitimate movie star after his death.
