Michael Jackson

When I made the decision to write this lens on Michael Jackson, I honestly didn't know where to start. I wondered how I would possibly be able to cover the life of such a unique person; a musical icon. A man so talented that he is a legend in his own time.

Regardless of your feelings towards Michael and your opinions of his personal life, you cannot deny the fact that his talent and achievements are exceptional.

No other performer in history has won more awards than Michael Jackson and he is considered THE most successful entertainer of all time. He tops a prestigious list of musical legends. 1.) Michael Jackson 2.) Elvis 3.) The Beatles 4.) Frank Sinatra. That's impressive!

Michael Jackson will always be sort of a mystery to us. We may catch a glimpse of him in an interview or on stage, but the true Michael, well, that is someone we may never really know or understand. Perhaps that is part of what makes him so intriguing.

"I wish we could all spend some time in his world," Steven Spielberg once said of his friend.

While this lens will touch on some aspects of Michael's personal life, the main purpose of this page is to celebrate the body of work and achievements of a musical genius.

In our darkest hour
In my deepest despair
Will you still care?
Will you be there?
In my trials
And my tribulations
Through our doubts
And frustrations
In my violence
In my turbulence
Through my fear
And my confessions
In my anguish and my pain
Through my joy and my sorrow
In the promise of another tomorrow
I'll never let you part
For you're always in my heart

    Michael Jackson: The Moonwalk

Michael Jackson did not invent the moonwalk, but he perfected it and made it his own. Michael first showed the world the moonwalk during his performance of Billie Jean at the 25th Anniversary of Motown.

He literally stole the show. It was after this performance that Fred Astaire and other great dancers contacted him saying how much they admired his talent.

Michael Jackson's White Glove is considered the most potent and intriguing symbol of celebrity during the present decade .

Michael seemed to regard the glove as a symbol of his onstage life: the "magic", the "escapism," as he put it, that he felt was his mission to "give to" an audience.

    michael jackson vitiligo

Michael Jackson revealed himself as a vitiligo sufferer during his interview with Oprah in 1993.

Vitiligo is a chronic skin condition that causes loss of pigment, resulting in irregular pale patches of skin. It is a very rare disease affecting only 1%-2% of people worldwide.

There are still people that don't believe Michael's story and insist that he bleached his skin because he wanted to be white.

    Michael Jackson's Concert Announcement

    Michael or Impersonator?

There are many people that do not think that Michael actually made the concert announcement above. They believe that it was an impersonator. I have watched the video a dozen times and in my opinion, I don't believe it is him.

Michael's voice is not that deep and this person's mannerisms were completely different. Michael doesn't walk the way this person walked. Michael is also a very shy and humble person, not showy as this video portrays. The person in this video announcement shows a high degree of confidence. I have watched many, many Michael Jackson interviews in my lifetime and Michael is never that confident. The only time Michael exerts confidence is when he is on stage. The person in this video also looks much younger than Michael.

Some of the last photos taken of Michael

at his O2 Arena Concert Rehearsals June 23rd, 2009

Spectators and dancers that attended Michael's last rehearsals say that the singer was upbeat and excited about his upcoming tour. There have also been reports that Michael was at the top of his game during these rehearsals and seemed more excited than ever about his comeback as the concert date approached.

Ken Ehrlich, executive producer of Grammy Awards, said he met Jackson on Wednesday for a business meeting and spoke to him for about 20 minutes before Jackson invited him to watch him rehearse.

"There was this one moment, he was moving across the stage and he was doing these trademark Michael moves, and I know I got this big grin on my face, and I started thinking to myself, 'You know, it's been years since I've seen that,"' Ehrlich said.

"There was that Michael that was just like no one else and no one else could touch," he said. "The shame is that new generation won't see that - but we all came close to being able to see it again."

But, maybe we will be able to see it. Rumors have recently surfaced that Michael's last concert rehearsals have been digitally recorded and will be released to DVD. If that does happen, I know I will be the first on line to buy it.
