Intro to Kiske's greatness.
Michael Kiske is best known for his time spent as the singer for Helloween from 1987 to 1993. Though he was fired after the album Chameleon flopped, he has put out a few solo albums and done some amazingly sweet collaborations with other metal bands since then.
Kiske's Albums
Kiske was hired to be the singer for Helloween in 1987. The band already had a successful CD, Walls of Jericho
, out but the lead singer and guitarist Kai Hansen had some trouble singing and playing simultaneously at live shows. Kiske brought a talent for high-pitched vibrant vocals to the band that made their next two CDs, Keeper of the Seven Keys, Pt. 1
and Keeper of the Seven Keys, Pt. 2
into power metal classics.
Their next two CDs, Pink Bubbles Go Ape
and Chameleon
were not as well recieved due to thematic and musical differences from their previous CDs. Because of this and conflicts with the other band members, he was fired from the band in 1993.
He continued to make music, though he distanced himself from the heavy metal scene with albums such as Instant Clarity
, Readiness to Sacrifice
, Supared
, and Kiske
. They cover a number of musical genres, but are considered to be "poppier" than his work with Helloween.
In addition to his solo work, various metal bands have included Kiske as a guest vocalist; he has worked with Edguy, Avantasia, Gamma Ray, Masterplan, Timo Tolkki, Aina, Thalion, and Tribuzy.
