Michael Phelps the Olympic swimmer

This years Olympics is held at Beijing China. Tourists from all over the world fly to China to witness the different athletes play on their respective games. One of the most recognized athlete this year is Michael Phelps. He has been the content of every news papers and tv news programs for the past few days.

Phelps is an 8 time Gold medal awardee in the sport, SWIMMING. He now has a perfect 8-for-8 in Beijing. He broke Mark Spitz's record for Single GAmes. Reports say that he broke 4 out of 5 of his individual swims and his 3 other relay teams also had a mark.

Phelps mom was recently interviewed and she revealed to everybody that Phelps had signs of ADHD when he was still young. ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Children who have that usually can't sit still and are so hyperactive, just like it's name. haha. Phelps' mom also said that he ws treated for like 2 months. Wow. He turned out to be an eight time gold medalist. haha.

In his first final, on Aug. 10, Phelps won the 400m IM in 4:03.86, more than a second faster than the record he set a month earlier at Olympic Trials. The next day, Phelps and the U.S. team squeaked out a win in the 4x100m freestyle relay. Phelps' leadoff leg of 47.51 was an American record, but anchor Jason Lezak dove in with more than a half-second deficit. Lezak posted the fastest relay split in history, 46.06, to catch Frenchman Alain Bernard for the win, by just .08 of a second.

Phelps easily won the 200m free, for his third gold in Beijing and his record-tying ninth career gold. But he wasn't tied for long, as the next morning, Phelps won two more gold medals: first, in the 200m butterfly, where the race was tighter than expected. But the only race in the 4x200m freestyle relay was for second, as the U.S. men, with Phelps leading off, broke the record by more than four seconds and beat the field by more than five. Phelps won his sixth gold with a dominating performance in the 200m IM, lowering his world record to 1:54.23, but his seventh gold was by the absolute slimmest of margins, .01 in the 100m butterfly. Phelps appeared to trail Milorad Cavic but his half stroke beat out Cavic's glide to the wall by a nail.

Phelps swam the butterfly leg of the 4x100m medley relay in the final event of the Beijing Olympic swimming competition. He left the blocks with his team third but gave the lead to Jason Lezak, who closed out the victory.

He is still in China right now, and he said from an interview that he doesn't expect anything when he comes back to the US but he's sure to expect a fabulous or grand welcome from his fellow americans. He brought honor to his country and every single american alive today is so proud of Michael Phelps' achievement. He is said to compete again in London and they will fly to London soon.

Phelps said that he bought a house in their area or place and so far, that's where his money went (for the meantime). He would also want to go home and be with his family.

His mom and sister is so proud of him and of all his achievements. They hugged him so hard, when he won his eighth medal in this years Beijing Olympics.

When asked about the huge amount of food serving that he eat's, Phelps says that he does eat that much when he was still young. and during those normal days.

before a competition, Phelps would indulge in delicious foods made for him. He burns the calories that he's eating through swimming. He needs the food in order to give him energy.
