FOR THE DEFENSE OF THE CHURCH
Composed by Pope Leo XIII
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle;
be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares
of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray

satan and all the evil spirits who prowl through the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

Saint Michael the Archangel Guardian of the Holy Eucharist
One of the least known official church designated titles of Saint Michael is " Guardian of the Holy Eucharist and the Precious Blood". Traditionally it was believed that anytime an angel appeared with the Eucharist then it had to be Saint Michael. At Fatima an angel appeared with a chalice and brought the communion to the children. It is said that Saint Michael was the only angel worthy to have brought the communion to Fatima.Up until recently Saint Michael was invoked after the end of the low Mass in the prayer of Saint Michael instituted by Pope Leo XIII. Tradition also has it that he also had the duty of presiding over the worship of adoration rendered to God.
Saint Michael the Archangel and Our Lady Queen of the Angels
Tradition of the Catholic Church has it that Saint Michael's service to our lady starts at the Assumption of Our Lady into heaven where he guarded her soul and escorted her to heaven where she was crowned Queen in Heaven by the Holy Trinity. Saint Michael is also the commander of God's army and hence he is called God's Marshal. As the Prince of Angels Saint Michael was very involved in the preparation of Our Lady's earthly apparitions.
Pope Paul VI declared him the Angel of Peace and hence he is the patron of those who keep peace mainly Policemen. Pius the XII had also declared him the the patron of Italy's public discipline and security.
