Michigan - A Great State for Camping, Fishing, Fun and Festival
We have only lived in Michigan for the last 10 years, but have grown to love this state for the many things it has to offer.
Michigan is surrounded by the Great Lakes (Huron, Michigan, Erie, St. Clair and Superior), and has 11,037 inland lakes.
Michigan has 36,350 miles of rivers with about 150 waterfalls.
About 50 percent of the state's land is covered with 19.3 million acres of forests, representing the fifth-largest timberland acreage in the continental United States.
Michiganders and visitors enjoy the four seasons with Summer and Beaches, Fall and the beautiful Fall Tree Colors, Winter and Winter Sports, and the beauty of Spring after the vegetation has had a time to rest.
Because of these facts, Michigan is one of the most Beautiful States in the United States, and is great for visiting, camping, fishing, snowmobiling, water sports, country drives, and much more. A huge number of Events are scheduled each year including Fairs, Festivals, Wine Country Events, Art Events, Renaissance Festival, Apple/Cider mills and the Cherry Festival, just to name a few.
Visitors who come to Michigan to camp and enjoy the countryside will not be disappointed with all there is to do.
CampinGearPlus.com is proud to sponsor this lens showing some of the Great Places and things you can do and see in Michigan. We hope you can come and enjoy the fun!!

Northern Michigan in the Winter
Pictures of Mackinaw City, Mackinac Bridge, the U P and Sault St. Marie in the Winter

Though the Sun was not shining and the snow was looming in the air, we had a Great Trip up through Northern Michigan.
We drove through Snow to come to Mackinaw City, and stopped for Lunch at the
Dixie Saloon right at the edge of Lake Huron next to the frozen Marina. It seemed to be the local stop for anyone on a snow mobile.
We bought some Fudge from Marshall's Fudge, did a little Shopping at the Great Buffalo Trading Company, and took in the sites of the Mackinac Bridge from the Lighthouse.
After Lunch, we continued up through the Upper Peninsula to Sault St. Marie. There we saw the Soo Locks and continued up into Canada to ride the Snow Train that took us more than 100 more miles North into Canada.
On the way back, we stopped for Pasties at the Mackinaw Pastie and Cookie Company.
The entire trip was Great, and if we mentioned something in this trip report, you can bet we had a great time or good food.
