How To Use Reward Charts
Reward charts are a great way to motivate children, they get very excited about adding stars or stickers
to their chart. Reward charts work best though if the child understands exactly what it is that they have to do to get the stamp or sticker on their chart.
For example, just saying "good behavior" will get you a sticker is too open ended for a young child. It is better to give them specific objectives such as "clearing my plate" or "making my bed". Once that behavior has become second nature to them you can add in a new behavior and stop rewarding that one.
Another point is to not work on too many things at a time. It is better to focus on one or two areas, and then move onto the others once you have mastered these. Otherwise children can feel overwhelmed.
If you are using a reward chart for Potty Training
it is very important that you only focus on the positive. In other words, reward your child with a sticker or star for a successful try, but don't take rewards away if they have an accident. This will help prevent your child from becoming stressed and will help them to keep viewing potty training as a positive activity.

Another way to create a Mickey Rewards chart is to buy a standard rewards chart with reusable magnets like these ones and then add your own Mickey Mouse detailing. In plain areas and around the borders you can add numerous Mickey Mouse stickers that your child will love. In fact, it could even be a great craft project for you and your child, helping them to feel more involved and connected with the whole rewards chart system.
