A Great Short List of Fiction Books for your Summer Reading

Fiction Books to take on vacation!
Getting ready for summer? Need some wonderful books to read?
Do you have a reading list? Being over 50 (yes, I am classic Boomer), I sometimes have trouble remembering what books I have read or listened to in the past - or even what I an currently reading. I attribute this lapse to the computer-like nature of my brain. If a file has not been used recently or used often, my brain deletes it to create more space.
Now that I have a DVR, I am discovering that this machine can also automatically delete shows or movies when the memory becomes full.
Please keep scrolling down to find my recommendations for some of the best fiction to put on your "To Read Next" list.
Thanks for stopping by!

Book Recommendations *** for your reading list!
Find new authors! Keep scrolling!
My opinions are highlighted in this lovely blue.
Just because this reading list is from 2007, it does not mean that the books are not worth reading. I find that it is easier to get a book at the library during the summer if it is not newly published. I really hope you will give the authors mentioned here a chance.
Click on the title and you will be directed to Amazon.com where you can read more about the entry. You can also purchase the book there as well.
Book Club Sites:
Reading Groups can help with your search for a new author!
Reader's Circle:"Reader's Circle" is a book club networking site with listings for local groups, author events, and phone chats. This site also has a list of books that might be good reads for a group.
One can also learn how to set up one's own book discussion group, as well. You must join the site to access the information.
Another site to help you find a "topical" book discussion group is Progressive Book Clubs. This site's goal is to get "average" citizens (meaning just ordinary folks) together in order to stimulate conversations. Site leads me to believe that the clubs listed here might be "political" in nature. The zip code finder does not seem to work effectively. There is a way to find clubs by state. Evidently, there are no "progressives" in my neck of the woods. Like most sites, there is a "reading list" consisting of the "top 20 books of the movement".
If you are not a "political" person, you might try Book Club Meetup Groups. The site is a bit confusing to use, but you might find a "meetup" that piques your interest. Motto for the page seems to be "do something, learn something, share something, change something".
Book Clubs Resource is a general site for you to explore for "on-line" book club reading.
Book Cataloguing sites:
Save a list of what you have read.
Read2 click here

Abandoned project - site's being improved each week, sometimes even each day.
Story Code click here
StoryCode.com is a unique source of inspiring book recommendations and a great way to find the next book to read. And its power comes from the collaborative passion of readers. Description copied from website.
My Book Opinions Blog:
I provide comments about what I am reading, listening to, and buying.
I hope you will value my opinions. I am an amateur, so be kind.
Buy or Trade Books at Paperback Bookswap--
This site also has audiobooks!
I have traded and bought books at Paperback Book Swap. I usually do so when my library does not have a copy of a particular book I want to read. Believe it or not, that does happen. Have never had a problem getting credit for my swaps or in getting a desired book that becomes available. With the advent of ebooks, finding a real book is getting more difficult.
Crime Scene Scotland - Reviews of Crime Novels
Review Blogspot
A Blog from the British Isles that reviews Crime/Suspense Fiction.
I copied and pasted this info from the blog so you would know what it is about:
"Crime Scene Scotland was, for five years, a home for noir short stories, commentary and other nasty pieces of work. Now the emphasis is on reviews, interviews and a celebration of the darker aspects of crime fiction.
Run by Russel D McLean (with a little help along the way from various sources) Crime Scene Scotland provides honest, intelligent reviews, probing interviews with authors new and old and commentary on the changing world of crime fiction."
Three Links are provided. Click on any one of them to visit "Crime Scene Scotland".

- I'm reading the Inspector Shan mystery series by Eliot Pattison...and am loving them. They inspired me to put up a new lens today (well, also the Summer Reading Quest thingy): squidoo.com/uncommonly-good-mysteries.
