Fiction Recommendations from the Summer of 2007
Being over 50 (yes, I am classic Boomer), I sometimes have trouble remembering what books I have read or listened to in the past. I attribute this lapse to the computer-like nature of my brain. If a file has not been used recently or used often, my brain deletes it to create more space. Now that I have a DVR, I am discovering that this machine can also automatically delete shows or movies when the memory becomes full. So maybe I am evolving into a DVR? Hopefully, it will be HD.
Because I discovered several authors from other lenses on Squidoo (Charlaine Harris, for one), I thought I might return the favor to the universe of readers out there.
I am using Amazon modules to make my lists. That way you can read the summary and other readers' opinions.
Read on to find some of the best fiction reading for any summer reading list (or beach reading, too).
Thanks for stopping by! Oh, by the way be sure to check out what I read in the summer of 2008.

2007 READING AND LISTENING LIST ***Recommendations***

My opinions are highlighted in this lovely blue.
Cross Bones: A Novel (Temperance Brennan Novels)
Good Listening. About the "Jesus Tomb". Timely and very interesting. Great history. Good reader.
Exit Wounds (Joanna Brady Mysteries, Book 11)
I Listened to the unabridged audio . Number 11 in the Joanna Brady series. It was difficult to keep up with the characters in the audio version of this title. It also got a little boring.
The Dead Yard: A Novel
The first in the series about Michael Forsythe. This book got me hooked on Adrian McKinty. This novel is not for the squeamish.
All Together Dead (Southern Vampire Mysteries, Book 7)
Newest (As of 2007) in the Southern Vampire Mysteries. In my opinion, it is necessary to read them in order. Begin with Dead Until Dark. This series is addictive. It is also quite fun to read. Not gruesome or scary. Just plain fun. HBO is making a movie (series?) based on these enjoyable books.
Minor in Possession: J. P. Beaumont Series, Book 8 (Unabridged)
"J. P. Beaumont's in an Arizona alcohol rehab center and none too happy. His roommate is a sleazy teenage drug dealer. The kid turns up shot dead with Beaumont's own .38." (summary from NoveList)
Not a bad book to listen to in the unabridged version of the audio book. The reader is excellent.

I copied and pasted this info from the blog:
"Crime Scene Scotland was, for five years, a home for noir short stories, commentary and other nasty pieces of work. Now the emphasis is on reviews, interviews and a celebration of the darker aspects of crime fiction.
Run by Russel D McLean (with a little help along the way from various sources) Crime Scene Scotland provides honest, intelligent reviews, probing interviews with authors new and old and commentary on the changing world of crime fiction."

Great lens! I'll be adding a few of your titles to my reading list for sure.
I just finished a great book -- Dancing Above The Waves by Susan Walerstein. It's full of psychological suspense with lots of twists and turns that will keep you riveted from the first word to the last. I started it on Saturday afternoon and finished about 3 hours later... couldn't put it down.

Great lens! I especially appreciate all of the links. I have a website of my own which has book lists for preschool to adults. It was inspired by the 100's of books I've given to my niece and nephew. Margaret.
