Get started by registering for a free with any of the Micro-Blogging services listed below. Twitter and Plurk are both easy and good places to start. Think about what you are willing to share about yourself and your business before you Micro-Blog. What ever you put in your profiles or Micro-Blog about will be there for everyone to see. An example might be that if you don't want customers coming to your place of business then don't broadcast your physical address.
Once you have setup your account I recommend you invite a few friends or colleagues to join and then follow you and your Micro-Blogging. Usually they can just click follow you if they are logged in and then they will see and be part of your conversation.
Once you get the hang of it then you will want to add a Widget from the service to your website and company blog. Once a Widget is in place anytime you Micro-blog it will instantly show up where ever the widget is placed adding timely updates.
