Microdermabrasion is conducted through the use of a compressor device that looks like a hand-held wand. It sucks in air and creates vacuum the moment it touches the skin surface. The device has aluminum oxide crystals that flow across the skin which is then picked up by the device drawing along dead skin cells from the skin surface. The mixture of crystals and dead skin cells are channeled by the device to a disposal bag. The strength and depth of exfoliation is determined by the esthetician or the medical professional that conducts the procedure. The hand-held wand is hovered over the surface of the face twice or even thrice if there are areas that need particular attention such as dark spots, scars and other blemishes.

Microdermabrasion is one of the easiest and safest aesthetic procedures.
