Microsoft Windows 7 Phone now is official

As expected, the Spanish event was an opportunity for the official launch of the new mobile operating system, Windows Phone 7 Series. After a brief introduction, Ballmer introduces Joe Belfiore, VP of the Microsoft Phone Windows department, who started to join the mobile team just 18 months ago. He said that the main objective of the new OS is to change drastically the ergonomic of the mobile phone.

In the past, Belfiore has worked to change the interface of Windows 95, Windows XP, and he has worked for the Zune software. Starting from the concept that the smartphone is not a computer, Microsoft has therefore tried to take back the Windows Mobile system, focusing again on 7. "We had many questions," says Belfiore, "how can we build a phone that can meet the user's needs?".

With the new platform, Microsoft Windows Phone 7 offers a more innovative approach compared to the other mobile OS, thanks to an attractive design. In the home page, the sections are dynamically updated showing news to users in real time and leaving the old system with static icons. Microsoft Windows Phone Series 7 is composed of several sections, each having a specific task: People, Pictures, Office, Games, Music Video & Marketplace.

The People section offers compelling social experience, bringing together the most important contents of each contact, including live feeds of social networking and photo. It also provides a platform to send updates to Facebook and Windows Live one shot.

The Image section simplifies the images and video sharing inside a social network with one step. Microsoft Windows Phone Series 7 collects user's photos by integrating Web and PC and using the phone like a perfect tool to display the full collection of videos and photos.

Among the major categories, we also find Office that, as its name suggests, will provide the same features of Microsoft Office suite. Connecting to Office, OneNote, SharePoint, and workspace from one common place, users can easily read and share documents. With the integration of Outlook Mobile, users can be productive and updated through mobile devices.

Do not forget the Games section that offers the first and unique official Xbox LIVE experience on mobile, including games specific for Xbox LIVE, your friend's standings and the possibility to display avatar, tasks, friends list and player's profiles. Belfiore explains the ability of the integrated browser. The software is based on the code version of Pc Internet Explorer. The system will manage the Web browser with multigestures, zooming on a web page preserving an high reading quality. The new Internet Explorer Mobile is based on new technology "sub pixel positioning," that is more precise than ClearType. Microsoft Windows Phone Series 7 will have a dedicated button to Bing, which will allow you to activate the search function from any pages with one click. An implementation of a Special Bing Search will allow personalized results, showing the most relevant Web content, depending on the type of request.

Many partners have pledged to include Windows Phone Series 7 for their products. Among these there are famous mobile operators like AT & T, Deutsche Telekom AG, Orange, SFR, Sprint, Telecom Italy, Telefónica, Telstra, T-Mobile USA, Verizon Wireless and Vodafone, and manufacturers like Dell, Garmin-Asus, HTC Corp., HP, LG, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Toshiba and Qualcomm Inc.. The first Windows Phone 7 Mobile Series will be available from December 2010.
