Microworkers: A personal dilemma

I can make a little money but should I?

Recently I discovered an online income revenue resource called Microworkers. Essentially, you are hired to do very small jobs for a very small amount of money. The idea of this form of outsourcing intrigued me so I tried it out. I did in fact make a little bit of money but I had an ethical dilemma doing it. What is that dilemma you ask? Keep reading and you will find out.

Some of the jobs are easy

And you do make money

After signing up, I started looking at the tasks that were available for workers. It was pretty clear that most of the jobs had something to do with increasing web traffic for the customers. You could get forty cents for searching an actor or fifty cents for clicking an advertisement and so on. Before I knew it I had made 5 bucks in my first day! I was thinking that this was pretty cool. I started to look for more "microjobs" and I started to face some dilemmas.

should I ignore my entrenched values of honesty in order to make a few bucks.

My Dilemma

Some of the jobs offered were to write reviews about certain products or services I have never used. What was I to do. Should I create an account on a review service like Yelp and write a favorable review for a company I have never heard of in a city in which I do not live? Should I use my StumbleUpon account to review a website that I've never seen? Should I write a favorable article in a blog about something I've never used? In short, should I ignore my entrenched values of honesty in order to make a few bucks.

After some deliberation, I have decided to give up my brief career as a "microworker". I'm sure if I worked at it I could make a bit of money at every month. It certainly isn't a get rich quick scheme. It is a legitimate source of online income but there is something about it that just doesn't feel right.
