Middlesbrough FC - also know as Boro - is a professional football team, playing in the English Premier League. They have yet to win the league title and the FA Cup, so their best domestic result is a League Cup win in 2004.
In the European competitions Middlesbrough FC finished runners up in the 2005-2006 UEFA cup, when they were beat 0-4 by Sevilla (Spain).
Middlesbrough FC play their home games at the Riverside Stadium, a 35,000 capacity all-seater ground, and the clubs home ground since 1995.
90% of the shares in Middlesbrough FC is owned by Steve Gibson, a local selfmade millionaire, who was instrumental in saving the club from liquidation back in 1986. He is one of the more popular club owners in the Premier League, known for his passion for the gam, rather than for wanting to make money.
Middlesbrough FC manager is Gareth Southgate, a former player and captain, playing in central defence. He was appointed to the post in 2006, managing on a dispensation, because he has yet to obtain a UEFA Pro Licence.
The team captain is George Boateng, a Dutch international, playing in the Central Midfield.
Other key players in the squad are: Mark Schwarzer (GK), Jonathan Woodgate (D), Stewart Downing (M) and Tuncai Sanli (F).
