Mid-range Glaze
The Best of Both Worlds
Using mid-range glazes give you great characteristics from both low and high fire glazes. On the one hand your work is more durable and stronger than low fire glazes. On the other your colors are brighter and and less muted than high fire glazes. Many colors and textures are available as ready-made mid-range glazes at your local supply house. Another plus is the added saving in electricity or fuel that you get compared to high firing glazes. This range of glazes are well worth experimenting with.
