A New Age of Network Marketing Lead Generation

My wife and I failed several times in Network Marketing before we realized that the old methods of how to build a successful business were not for us. Bugging friends and family never worked. Cold calling was not our cup of tea. Buying leads, Home Parties, 3-Way Calling and many other methods never seemed to work for us.

All that changed when we read Ann Sieg's, "7-Great Lies of Network Marketing." Ann hit the nail on the head for Darla and I. We knew the things we did not like and were not successful for us, we just didn't know where else to turn. We realized several years ago, in our second failed attempt at MLM, that not only did we dislike the methods taught by our upline, we also didn't care for the rejection we expereinced day and and day out.

Think about this for a minute. If you were told that you could make a million dollars but you had to talk to 5000 people about your products and opportunity, could you do it? Could you actually go out and speak to 5000 people and make it through all the rejections and frustrations to make a million dollars? A popular method today in Network Marketing is buying leads. Have you done this yourself? I have, and it didn't take me long to figure out that it wasn't going to work. Not only are they extremely expensive, you really never know how these leads were generated. I have even seen Lead Generation Systems that have three different lead buying levels. The most expensive leads are supposedly very hot prospects, people who are almost a shoe-in to join your business, at least that is how they portray them.

How expensive are these Network Marketing leads? Well the prices are all over the board, ranging from $.01-$5.00 per lead. Can you imagine paying upwards of $5 per lead?

Have you ever asked yourself how do these companies normally generate MLM leads? If you are the type of person who surfs the internet, searching for business opportunities, or money making systems, chances are you have run across these surveys used to capture your information and then is sold at a later point. Sometimes the surveys are short, sometimes long. Generally the longer ones will qualify your intent and interest in starting your own Network Marketing or Home Based Business and will typically ask for more of your personal information. These longer surveys are then sold at a higher premium.

Let me tell you why these Lead Generation systems don't normally work for building your Network Marketing business. Lead buying is still a form of cold calling. Even if they opt into your lead capture page for your Network Marketing opportunity, there is still going to be a great deal of cold calling tactics needed to get them interested in you and your MLM business. And as we talked before in earlier posts, cold calling is not a duplicatable method that people today can latch onto and be successful at in Network Marketing. It just plain creates too much frustration and heartache when a majority of the responses are rejections.

If you are looking for true " Network Marketing or MLM Lead Generation system" , why not generate "YOUR" own leads? Stop and think about it for a moment. What if you were the one who created the survey that folks filled out online to say they were interested in what you had to say? What if you created the targeted Lead Capture pages and when people filled out their name and information they would know up front who you are and what your Network Marketing opportunity is? What if you could generate these leads for free, or very little money? Do you think that if you created your own leads, who knew who you were, what you did and what Home Based Business opportunity you represented, do you think the phone call to them might already be set up to lean in a positive direction? What if these leads continued to receive pre-written emails from you, sharing more information and showing them all about you and your Network Marketing business? What if these leads called you instead of the other way around?

Just by thinking about these questions I've posed you can start to imagine how different it would be working with your own generated leads versus buying them and talking to people who have no clue who you are are or what you do. The success rate of personally generated leads versus buying cold leads can be night and day. Yes, it is still a numbers game, but the numbers needed when you generate your own, is substantially less. Plus your own leads are yours to control, promote to, sell to, whatever you want to do.
