The Spotlight is On Miles Davis's Album Kind of Blue
Kind of Blue
Amazon Price: $7.99 (as of 07/11/2009)![]()
Miles Davis released Kind of Blue in 1959 and I still can't think of a better album to get when you are new to Jazz. It just doesn't blow you away with complexity but make no mistake it will blow you away.
It is tight and lush while being stark at the same time. You can close your eyes and lay back while listening to Kind of Blue or you can move around the room like you just found some special. I highly recommend Kind of Blue because it is something special.

Miles Davis at a Glance
Miles Dewey Davis III (May 26, 1926 - September 28, 1991) was an American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and composer.

Many leading jazz musicians made their names in Davis' groups, including: Joe Zawinul, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, John Coltrane, Julian "Cannonball" Adderley, Gerry Mulligan, Wayne Shor...

Nice lens! Love Miles. While working in upstate NY we got to see him with Keith Jarret, Michael Henderson and Tiki Fullwood playing at a pizza parlor in Rochester. We hung with the band before and after and the coolest thing was that they had heard about our band. Anyway, keep up the good work and spread the word.
