Miles Davis released Kind of Blue in 1959 and I still can't think of a better album to get when you are new to Jazz. It just doesn't blow you away with complexity but make no mistake it will blow you away.
It is tight and lush while being stark at the same time. You can close your eyes and lay back while listening to Kind of Blue or you can move around the room like you just found some special. I highly recommend Kind of Blue because it is something special.

Miles Dewey Davis III (May 26, 1926 - September 28, 1991) was an American trumpeter, bandleader, and composer.
Widely considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, Miles Davis was, with his musical groups, at the forefront of several major developments in jazz music including cool jazz, hard bop, free jazz, and fusion. Many well-known jazz musicians made their names as members of Davis's ensembles, including John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans, Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, John McLaughlin, Cannonball Adderley, Gerry Mulligan, Tony Williams, George Coleman, J. J. Johnson, Keith Jarrett, John Scofield and Kenny Garrett.

- Nice lens! Love Miles. While working in upstate NY we got to see him with Keith Jarret, Michael Henderson and Tiki Fullwood playing at a pizza parlor in Rochester. We hung with the band before and after and the coolest thing was that they had heard about our band. Anyway, keep up the good work and spread the word.
