Great lens. I have to say that back in highschool I met someone whose parents split up because of the tough military life. It always saddened me to see how what great friends his parents were, but how the tough life was too much for them to handle staying together. Women, men, kids & entire families who endure the hardships of deployment and constant moves are to be admired. And our country should be just as thankful to the families who sacrifice so much for us all.

This is an amazing resource for any family that has someone they love in the military. Very nicely done, and I can tell that it was written from the heart.

I love your site! I have been dating my boyfriend for almost 3 years now and he became a Marine this past month. Everyone is telling me it would be stupid to move down to Florida where his job school is and so on and so forth. They don't understand Marines I guess... Your story really inspired me to follow my heart. And congrats on your baby girl! I bet he is so proud of her =)

Great site. Spent 22 years with the Navy Medical Department and while I never earned the coveted FMF designation, I have nothting but respect for the Marines and their families. I spent a year off the coast of vietnam on the USS Sanctuary, a hospital ship) and have never forgotten the young men I cared for.

My fiance is station in Camp Pendleton, and I'm still living in Rhode Island. Keeping a relationship together when you're 3,000 miles apart is no easy task, but we knew what we were getting in to. I'm so afraid to move cross country and start new without my friends and family. My familiy means the world to me, but then again, so does Andee. It's tough, but hearing stories like the ones on this site really give me hope. I know that as long as we have each other, it will be OK. Thanks!

It's really a heartbreaker for you to always experiences deployment but I'm sure you are grateful to have come across squidoo where you can spend some of your time in many productive ways. Good for you! and we're thankful to have come across this lens of yours! We really learned a lot from here. I can share this to my sister-in-law. she's a Navy's wife, too, (my brother) and she will love to read this! Here's something I would also like to share to you and it's all about where to buy cheap yet impressive personalized checks. I recently bought my own personalized photo checks and it's really very lovely! I'm sure you would love to see them, too, and pick one. I would suggest personalized Military checks or if you love dogs, dog checks would also do just fine! Hope to read more of your lenses! Have a nice day!

Just wanted to say I love what you have going here. I've been a Marine wife for 4 years now. We got married straight out of highschool and I also had our daughter while my husband was in Iraq with only 2 friends by my side. He's heading out on his 4th tour in a few weeks and I love how you said "but don't feel sorry for me, because sacrifice is service too". Love that :)

I have down quite a few custom military emblems, and memorials in my business, some of you might like something made for your loved one. www.squidoo.com/giftspetportraits God bless!

My boyfriend is in the marines and we are planning on getting married but we both want to make sure we are ready. In the moments when trying to work everything out, he gets stationed in Japan. :( Im 18 years old and never felt so strongly about someone in my life but I don't know how to hold a relationship together when the love of my life is halfway around the world for the next two years. It is so hard already and he just left today, but there is nothing I want more then to spend the rest of my life with this man. If anyone has ANY suggestions of how to make this just a little easier I would appreciate it so much.

Full of good information and it has a perosnalized touch unlike those dry briefs and flyers they handout that everyone trhows away as soon as they walk out the door.

Great lens. My husband is a former Marine (hence our Squidoo username). We were married after he got out, so I never had to endure deployment, however, two of my sisters are married to former Marines and we stood by them during their lonely times of deployment. A big 5 to ya!
  • ShawnsBidness Aug 20, 2007 @ 9:10 pm | delete
God bless you both (or should I say "all three of you"). You're following your heart and seem like you're wise beyond your years. Tell Nathan that I said, "Thank You Sir" and a big "HOOAH!"

Very touching. I agree with Jack. A diary is a great idea. My thoughts go out to you while your husband is away. My sister is married to a sailor and I myself was in the Royal Navy. My father was a soldier in the British Army for 22 years, so I know how you must feel.

    God bless
  • jackclee Aug 13, 2007 @ 6:15 am | delete
A good start. My suggestion would be to post a running diary. This will bring readers back again and again.
You and your husband are true patriots. We honor you for your sacrifice. God bless.
