Wentworth, On His Way Up

Prison Break was definitely a defining show for this gorgeous guy. Despite the fact that he`s been acting since he was in school, Wentworth didn`t really gain a huge following until he burst onto the screen as the broody, super-intelligent and slightly flawed (but in a good way) Michael Scofield. But as fans are now discovering, Miller has been around for a while.

Now that he`s caught our attention, we`ll be watching for Wentworth in future series (apparently he`s not that into feature films, which is just fine by me, I`d rather see him on a weekly basis than once or twice a year!). And in the meantime, you can get a good look at him right here on this lens.

Prison Break: Season Four

What's New with Wentworth

In 2012, the film Stoker will be released. It was written by Wentworth and stars Nicole Kidman.

He is also in a new movie called Loft, about a group of five people who share a loft for their extramarital affairs and find a dead woman in it. This movie is in post-production, so it will be a bit before we see it.

Wentworth Miller Residential Evil

Went is playing the part of Chris Redfield, Claire's brother in the new Residential Evil: Afterlife. He's been locked up in a prison in LA, where he was left for dead by the inmates . . . and survivors haven't let him out for fear that he's a killer. You know, because a murderer is the LAST thing you want on your side when you're facing a gazillion zombies! For Wentworth fans, as well as zombie/RE fans, this is a pretty decent movie.

Prison Break was the television series that made Wentworth Miller famous. He starred as the broody, obsessively meticulous Michael Scofield who quit his job and ended up in prison on purpose . . . with a plan. He spent the first season trying to break his big brother (a real criminal, unlike the squeaky clean Scofield, who was framed for a murder he didn't commit), Lincoln Burrows out of prison.

The second season of Prison Break was almost as good as the first and it kind of slid downhill after that, but was still worth watching, if for no other reason than to admire Went.

"You have to love what you do, and you have to need it like you need air. And there's nothing else that would give me the same degree of satisfaction as acting, which is why I can't walk away from it. "

5 Things You Might Want to Know About Wentworth

Odds and ends gleaned from the internets.

1. He was called Stinky by friends when he studied at the university, not because he smelled bad but because his attitude was terrible.

2. He goes by Went among friends . . . definitely less of a mouthful than his full name, Wentworth Earl Miller III.

3. Wentworth slouches at interviews. I`m not sure if he knows this, but I noticed it when watching some interviews on YouTube. Could it be because he`s so tall? (6' 1")

4. His favorite features are his eyes and I suspect that's the fave for many fans, too!

5. A favorite pastime of the Prison Break actor is napping. He also likes swimming, reading and playing Scrabble . . . that doesn`t sound much like the typical Hollywood party animal, does it?

What Is Me & City?

Went`s newest venture

When I first heard that Wentworth Miller was promoting Me & City, I figured it was a new movie or show that I hadn`t heard about yet (that frequently happens since I don`t live in North America). But no, it`s a clothing line from China, apparently. You can take a look at the video below to see what Went is up to . . . back to the modeling gig now that Prison Break is off the air.

A Little Background

Where Wentworth is coming from

Wentworth was born in England, on June 2, 1972, but despite what many people think, he`s full on American. Both his parents are American, he just happens to have dual citizenships, which can be pretty handy, actually! Went grew up in Brooklyn.

Though he enjoyed acting from a young age, apparently he was pretty shy in school and mostly stuck to singing. In fact, Wentworth was in a band, the Princeton Tigertones, while in the university, where he sang Acapella. Scroll down to listen to him singing with the group in a YouTube video.

He went to university mostly because his parents were academics and it was expected of him. Graduating with a degree in English Lit, Wentworth headed to Los Angeles, where he spent some time working at a production company, but decided to fulfill his childhood dream of acting instead.

Getting started in acting isn`t easy, any actor will tell you. Wentworth managed to get some guest spots in shows like ER and Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, but it wasn`t easy! Even he admits there were times when he was pretty down and out . . . pawning his CDs to make rent. But he stuck to his guns and it`s obviously paid off for this great actor.

Out and About

The Tattoo

Everything you wanted to know about Michael Scofield`s awesome body art

Wentworth`s character in Prison Break sported a full sleeve tattoo and while it wasn`t real, he still gets women coming up to him in the street asking him to take off his shirt so they can see it. If you`ve ever wondered about that seriously awesome body art, here`s everything you need to know.

Why the Prison Break Tattoo?

Wentworth`s character is breaking his brother out of prison (or he was in the first season) and has the blueprints of the prison, as well as a ton of other necessary escape information, hidden in a tattoo that covers his entire torso and both arms.

Throughout the series, Michael Scofield would refer to his tattoo for instructions and diagrams, even once they had escaped the prison. For example, a fan of cards on his arm reveal the phone number of the immigrant he married before going to prison, a coffin marks where he sealed a special pill beneath his skin and the devil`s face is later traced and projected onto a wall to show where to drill holes. Each section of the plan is marked with a letter of the Greek alphabet to determine which order they should be in.

Who Designed It?

The tattoo was designed by Tom Berg (who also did the tattoo design for Red Dragon) and created by Tinsley Transfers. Throughout the show, the tattoo changed as new episodes were written and new "secrets" needed to be hidden.

How Do They Put It On?

The Prison Break tattoo was put on following a number of steps.

First, the area was cleaned with rubbing alcohol to prepare it for application. It comes in a number of pieces (numbers range from 15-25 pieces) that are fitted together like a puzzle and applied to Wentworth`s body. After this, a sealant and glue were put on to make sure the tattoo stayed in place, then filler lines were painted to hide the gaps caused by the separate pieces.

To do the full tattoo, it took about 4-5 hours, but would last for up to 2 weeks. At that point, it would be quite worn, but still had to be removed with solvents. It took around 45 minutes to remove the fake tattoo.

What Did Wentworth Think of It?

He claimed it was like being wrapped in Saran Wrap on a hot day! Not to mention, it made him sticky . . . he says he would stick to the sheets at night. However, he also thought it was fun to become someone who was 50% tattooed, considering the fact that he`s not into that kind of body art.

Want to hear Wentworth Miller sing? Well, here you go. Unfortunately, he won`t be making a comeback. According to the actor, it`s been "too many years and too many cigarettes". The soloist in this video is Wentworth.

Even Serious Guys Can Have Fun

Dinotopia

You`ve gotta start somewhere

Dinotopia was a mini series that aired in three parts. The story was rather silly, but interesting enough. Two brothers go down in a plane with their father and end up climbing onto an island called Dinotopia where dinosaurs are still very much alive.

The brothers quickly learn that this paradise is in danger from the carnivores (herbivore dinosaurs are very intelligent and friends of humans here) and they are recruited to aid the people in a fight for survival.

To be perfectly honest, the only reason you`d want to watch this show is to drool over Wentworth. And his acting is . . . well, let`s just say he`d learned a lot by Prison Break! You can see his skills improving over the course of the three episodes, however, and he`s still as hot as ever.

Buy Dinotopia!

While this is certainly NOT Went's best acting, it is still a pretty entertaining miniseries and you can own it on DVD. It's actually a great movie for kids, being full of dinosaurs and all.

Based on a book of the same name, this mini series follows two brothers after they are dumped on a strange island following a plane crash. There, they discover talking dinosaurs and plenty of people living with them. The carnivorous dinos are starting to attack, however, and the boys find themselves caught up in the war.

"There's so much we can't express in our day-to-day interaction with people because it's considered inappropriate. And acting is all about being inappropriate."

Since there are so many knowledgeable fans out there I was wondering if anyone knows why Mr. Miller did not do any commentary on the DVDs?

I like him, he's definitely easy on the eyes. Didn't realize he's almost 40.

I love Wentworth! He caught my attention in Prison Break and held it. Loved that show! I still can't believe how things ended for Michael Scofield though...that kindof broke my heart. But I loved his acting and his looks, heh. I am happy to see someone is tracking Went! I was curious to find out what he's going to do next; this is the first I've heard (admittedly I'm behind) on specific post-Prison-Break projects.

He is SOO gorgeous! I love that black and white picture especially. I like his quotes, too, and what they reveal of his personality. He seems very honest and real. I like his hobbies, too, reading, swimming...=D I like that stuff, too! Too bad he smokes now; his voice in that solo vid is beautiful!! *jawdrops* hot, smart, and he sings? gaahhh...*drools*

Beautiful lens for a beautiful man!

Miller did a really good job in Prison Break but he should of continued doing the same the same action packed genre. If you visit the site http://1-inmate-locator.blogspot.com/ and actually see how the prison or jail system works, it would be pretty hard for him to do what he did in the show.

Have you ever been on the inside of the bars? I doubt it since you are saying you looked it up I have been here is a fyi (for you information) what the jails show the public isn't what really happens behind the gates of jails. prison break is pretty close to some prisons not all some are even easier to escape from and if you had the plan and the man power it could be done look at alcatraz it was escape proof and many made it out to the water. Most prisons are run by the inmates and not the guards and with enough cash you can get anything so don't fool yourself into thinking you can look up what jail life is truly like Prisoners can make deadly weapons out of near anything in fact with enough patience you can turn T P into a rope for hanging climbing and anything else you can think of. What they did was very realistic and very plausible the only thing that was not reality was that linc was supposed to be on death row and he would have never been allowed on a work detail. But getting the pill to linc and getting linc to the hospital ward would have worked but the warden there was a bit of a pushover and maybe thats why link was allowed on work detail not sure but all and all I love this show and its as real as it gets

Very well documented lens about Wentworth Miller. I knew he played in a ghost tv show after Prison Break was over but I wasn't aware that he acted in Dinotopia. I'll be sure to check it out!
