The Grammy Winning Duo Who Didn't Really Sing
Two kids from Germany, Fabrice Morvan and Rob Pilatus, made up the group that was called Milli Vanilli.
"Blame it on the rain that was fallin' fallin'
Blame it on the stars that did shine at night
Whatever you do don't put the blame on you
Blame it on the rain yeah yeah
You can blame it on the rain"
Their good looks, hugely successful songs and sexy dance movements jettapulted them to almost immediate fame and fortune only to have them brought down in disgrace, just as quickly, after the public was made aware that this dynamic duo were not actually singing their own songs.
Who was to blame for the rise and fall of Milli Vanilli?
According to Fab Morvan, at the Official Fabrice Morvan website bio page, he and Rob were a dance act before Frank Farian signed them up and created Milli Vanilli. He says they were forced contractually to lip synch during their performances.
There is a new Milli Vanilli movie in production right now, which could be out as early as next year. Maybe that will shed more light on what actually went wrong.

Milli Vanilli Recieve a Grammy
It's been said for years that if they hadn't have been soooo good, and hadn't have been soooo popular, and hadn't have been honored with the Grammy that year, Milli Vanilli could, quite possibly, have gotten away with the whole thing!Too bad, I really liked them!
Blame it on the Rain Lyrics
Milli Vanilli
You said you didn't need herYou told her good-bye (good-bye)
You sacrificed a good love
To satisfy your pride
Now you wished
That you should have her (have her)
And you feel like such a tool
You let her walk away in the rain
Now it just don't feel the same
Gotta blame it on something
Gotta blame it on something
Gotta blame it on me billy
Blame it on the rain that was fallin' fallin'
Blame it on the stars that did shine at night
Whatever you do don't put the blame on you
Blame it on the rain yeah yeah
You can blame it on the rain
Should've told her you were sorry (sorry)
Could have said you were wrong
But no you couldn't do that.
You had to prove you were strong ooh
If you hadn't been so blinded (blinded)
She might still be there with you
You want her back again
But she just don't feel the same
Gotta blame it on something
Gotta blame it on something
Gotta blame it on something
Blame it on the rain that was fallin', fallin'
Blame it on the stars that did shine at night
Whatever you do don't put the blame on you
Blame it on the rain yeah yeah
You can blame it on the rain
Cos the rain don't mind
And the rain don't care
You got to blame it on something
Blame it on the rain, that was fallin' fallin'
Blame it on the stars, that did shine at night
Whatever you do don't put the blame on you
Blame it on the rain yeah, yeah
You can blame it on the rain
(Blame it on the rain yeah, yeah) x 3
You can blame it on the rain, blame it on the rain,
Blame it on the rain baby
(Blame it on the rain yeah yeah)
Blame it on the stars that did shine that night
(Blame it on the rain yeah yeah)
Blame it, blame it on the rain
woo
I'm walking
I'm walking
Walking in the rain
Walking in the rain
(Rain, rain)
(Stars, stars)
Whatever you do don't put the blame on you
(Blame it on the rain)
yeah yeah
(Blame it on the rain)
that keeps falling, falling
(Blame it on the stars)
that did shine that night
Whatever you do don't put the blame on you
Blame it on the rain yeah yeah
Blame it on the rain (rain, rain)

Shout Out About Milli Vanilli!
What are your thoughts on the Milli Vanilli scandal?
Personally, I didn't really care who was doing the singing, I just really loved the music! I always thought that they should have let the real singers, sing while Rob and Fab did their fantastic dancing.

- Very nice lens and a great chance to recall wonderful moments from my youth! :)
And still believe that the best pop music was in '80 and '90 - pleasant lyrics, music that had a rhythm and real melodic line...
Thank you for sharing!

- I guess I was a fan, so I was disappointed when the scandal broke, and was upset that the real singers were not given enough credit. I like this lens, and invite you to see my lens all about freestyle dance music from the 1980s.
