Mindfulness and stress reduction
The word meditation often conjures up someone sitting on a pillow who appears to be in a deep trance. Meditation can be in many different forms but the end result, if done correctly, is usually the same. Meditation will give you an inner peace and help relieve the stress and anxiety that seems to persistently stay with us from day to day. Mindfulness stress reduction is being aware of your mind and your body in a current context.
What is meditation? Mindfulness?
According to Wikipedia meditation is a" holistic discipline by which the practitioner attempts to get beyond the reflexive, "thinking" mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness." Meditation has been intertwined with religion has long as can be remembered especially in Eastern religions. There is also meditation found in Christian religions. Some consider prayer as a form of meditation.
Mindfulness is being highly aware of your present surrounding without worrying about the past or future. Meditation is a passage way to mindfulness.

We hear so much about stress in today's society, whether it is about the faltering economy and its lack of jobs or the stress of living right by exercising and maintaining a healthy diet. There seems to be a lot of worrying going on and it is certainly understandable. Like everyone else I also worry about my health and my family's health, the economy and things that haven't even happened yet. As you know stress can be heavy burden on a person, physically and mentally. If left unchecked it can turn your life upside down. So what can you do about it?
Meditation components
- Somewhere quiet especially when you are just learning meditation. Once you get the hang of it you can meditate anywhere.
- Comfortable position- meditation is more productive if you are in a comfortable position.
- A clear mind that is focused on meditation is the key to reaching a inner piece and making meditation successful.
- When you stressed out your breathing can be hurried, when you are meditating your breathing should be just the opposite.
What does meditation do?
Meditation puts you in a place of high concentration and reflection, where your self awareness and understanding are keenly sharp. In order to achieve the highest levels, you'll need to be a student of meditation for many years. However meditation as a relief for stress can be achieved in a lot less time.
