Miner's lettuce - (Claytonia perfoliata)

the Weeds in my Garden Series

took this picture a couple weeks into February of 2010, this is a patch of miners lettuce that grows next to the greenhouse door, seems to be just the right amount of light and shade to get nice big juicy leaves.

there is plenty of miners lettuce out there right now, so I'll be getting some new pix in the next few weeks (dec.2010) all this rain should perk it right up. I've been harvesting a little here and there and feeding it to the chickens, they love just about all things green and I love fresh eggs :)

april 5, 2011, darn,
messed up bigtime today, harvested a wheelbarrow full of miners lettuce, fed it all to the chickens, and then thought about how I should have taken some pix of it to update this lens.
oh well, can't do everything
