Indoor Helicopters That Are Easy To Control

Among my many hobbies and interests, I've always had a thing for R/C gadgets. To narrow it down even further, helicopters are always able to draw my attention.

The versatility and maneuverability can't be matched. They are a marvel of modern engineering. Good thing for me; some are pocket-sized now!

What we have here, is a list of top-notch Mini R/C Helicopters that are incredibly easy to fly. Please, take a gander.

Syma S107/S107G

Syma S107/S107G R/C Helicopter *Colors Vary

Amazon Price: $13.00 (as of 06/03/2012)Buy Now

Syma makes VERY good products. The S107/S107G is small and stable; perfect for indoor flight. I actually don't suggest taking it outside, as even a small gust can knock it off course.

This 'copter is light years ahead of the first generation that I bought into years ago. Gyros make these super-stable, and it has 3 channels for forward, backward, up, and down control!

Syma S109G Apache

Syma S109G Apache AH-64 3.5-Channels Mini Indoor Helicopter

Amazon Price: $16.40 (as of 06/03/2012)Buy Now

Yet another Syma goodie. All of the quality and fun of other Syma helicopters, but with one twist. This is the Apache!

Apache helicopters are some of the most awesome machines ever engineered, and this smaller version is just as great. It has 2 selectable frequencies, so you can fly two at once. It even sports a 10 meter control distance. That's insane for a 'copter this size!

JXD "Drift King"

JXD 4 Ch Indoor Infrared RC Gyroscope Helicopter "Drift King"

Amazon Price: $12.99 (as of 06/03/2012)Buy Now

The issue with earlier micro-copter designs was precision. They seemed to float around with their own mission in mind, and the most you could do was make them get there faster, or slower. Things have gotten WAY better, especially since we have helis like the Drift King.

The Drift King is probably what you'll want to practice on before getting a bigger one. It has a whopping 4 Channels, which gives you complete lateral control. Up, down, forward, backward, left, and right. That's what I'm talkin' about!

Syma S026G Chinook

Syma 16.5CM S026G 3.5Ch 3 Channel Mini Chinook RC Helicopter Gyro Small Toy Gift Army-green

Amazon Price: $21.99 (as of 06/04/2012)Buy Now

I can't seem to get away from Syma, can I? For the uninitiated, Chinooks are heavy-lift twin-engine helicopters used by the military for troop movement and supply missions.

So gather up those plastic army men, 'cause we've got some cookies to transport. I love cookies... Anyway, this little heli is very stable with its gyroscopic design. 3 channels allows: up, down, forward, and backward control. Sweeeet.

Helizone Combat Fighter(Shoots Missles!)

Helizone Combat Fighter 3.5 Channel Gyro Missile Shooting RC Helicopter

Amazon Price: $25.90 (as of 06/03/2012)Buy Now

Oh man, I couldn't wait to put this in here. The Helizone Combat Fighter is similar to the other 3 channel fliers, except it has an extra .5 of a channel. That's just enough for shooting missiles!

The HCF has twin spring-loaded missiles ready to launch at the push of a button. It comes with 6 missiles, so fire away! Of course, the gyroscopic design makes it a breeze to fly, and 3 channels of control give you: up, down, forward, and backward movement.

Mission Complete

TransmitterI've been flying r/c helicopters for years, and I'm super impressed with the quality of micros nowadays.

If you're new to the hobby, I suggest starting small with one of these, then move up in size when you're comfortable. You'll be flying scale gas-powered Apache's in no time.
