Materials:

Clear push pins
Polymer clay
Wire cutters
Labels
Clear nail polish
Microwave and microwave safe dish

Step One

Use wire cutters to remove the pin.

Tip; Use a lighter to carefully heat the metal pin and it will come out easily.

Step Two

Use the wire cutters to cut off the smaller end of the
pushpin. The larger end will become the "bottle neck".

Discard the small piece and sand the top of the "bottle neck" if needed.

Step One Continued....

Your push pin should look like this with pin removed.

Step Two Continued....

Your push pin should look something like this one.

Step Three

Mix your clay and roll out a thick snake about the size you want your bottle. I used red and translucent clay for my bottle. Use any color use choose, your "bottle neck" will reflect the color if using clear push pins.

Step Four

Place the "bottle neck" on the clay and press down a little. Roll the clay some more with the "bottle neck" on, to achieve the look you want.

Step Four Continued....

For a wine bottle, taper the bottom of the bottle. Continue this step to achieve your bottle's shape.

Step Five

Make a small cap from clay and place on top pressing gently. You can use a bead for the cap instead of clay; skip this step if using anything other than clay.

Step Six

Place your bottle in a microwave safe bowl filled with very hot water.

Step Seven

Place bowl in microwave for about 30 seconds and then carefully check your bottle. It takes about a minute and a half in my microwave; the time will vary depending on how hot your water is to begin with and your microwave.

Step Eight

Bring the water to a boil, don't over cook and do not put bottle in the microwave without water, it will scorch.

Step Nine

Carefully remove from water and let cool. Don't worry if your bottle comes apart during cooking. Use a little tacky glue to hold pieces together. Add label and coat with clear nail polish.

Step Ten

Add label and coat with clear nail polish.

Use your imagination to create many different kinds of bottles.

Experiment with diffrent sizes, shapes and colors.

These are fantastic! Here's something I discovered (the hard way!) Push the pin down thru what ends up as the bolltle neck, then pull it out. Looks even more real!

    Thanks!

Great tutorial! If you use air drying sugru instead of polymer clay you won't have to bake it. Here's a link to their site, cool stuff!

Thank you! I checked out the Sugru, pretty interesting stuff and I can see it being useful in miniature but it is pretty expensive compared to polymer clay. Thanks for the link!

Unbelievable. Girl Scouts make small things called "SWAPS" for trading. We could make a soda bottle perhaps. Great tutorial!
