I used to work for a high end doll house silver smith company - making pots and pans, etc. for doll houses. I went to one convention at the time and saw some miniature artwork that just blew me away.

I have bought and sold a few miniatures from the 1800's. They are intriguing and sometimes bring out the personality of the sitter as strongly as normal sized portraits. Thanks for sharing this info....I'll be back, I'm sure.

Katherine, Thanks for posting all this information! Please consider adding a link to the Miniature Art Society of Florida (MASF) and their exhibition:
    www.miniatureartsocietyofflorida.com

Please feel free to copy and use any of the resources listed here:
www.artofwildlife.com/miniaturepaintings.html - contains listing of collections, books, miniature societies etc.

Two other potential links would be to the Association of Miniature Artists: www.miniatureartist.com - working towards a standard definition of miniature art today. You currently have this group mentioned under the Yahoo Forum pointing to my personal website which was a temporary URL.

www.artofwildlife.com/miniatureartsocieties.html - A project to compile information regarding the societies and organizations pertaining to the Revival Period in the history of miniature art with contributions encouraged and welcomed.

    Thanks so much!
