Small is Beautiful

Have you ever thought, Miniature Art can be an excellent way of acquiring an affordable art collection. Miniature paintings have been around for hundreds of years. Before the invention of the camera enabling personal photos to be carried, the only way an image of a loved one could be carried was to have a miniature painting commissioned.

Things have progressed and the genre now includes a wide variety of subjects. These are just a few of my miniature paintings that are now held by collectors throught the world.

A great exhibition

I had a trip to the Mall Galleries in London on Monday to visit the annual exhibition of the RSMA (Royal Society of Marine Artists) and also the Royal Society of Miniaturists. The quality and detail in their work is amazing mind you so were some of the prices (£495) my miniatures are much more affordable!

A Miniature in a new medium

I've just bought an electric pencil sharpener which takes some of the drudgery out of sharpening. I thought it was time to give my Derwent Studio coloured pencils a work out. This was the result, just a little doodle. I must say though it looks better in real life than the photo I've taken, I think the sheen on the surface may have degraded the image. I must try to retake it, perhaps using a polarising filter.

A New Miniature Watercolour Painting

This is one of six miniature paintings that I am preparing ready for exhibition next month, this is one of four seascapes, I sold four at last years exhibition and I find I am under increasing pressure to paint new work for exhibition in addition to my commissioned paintings.
