Services offered
At Vein Associates, Dr. Reese treats patients who suffer from varicose and spider veins and hemorrhoids.
- Varicose Veins:
- Millions of people suffer from this condition and it not only makes the life of a patient uncomfortable but has the potential to cause extreme disabilities and deadly complications. Given below are the treatments offered by Dr. Reese for varicose veins.
Conservative Treatment - As a first line of defense, Dr. Reese treats his patients with special support stockings. These help by slowing down the growth and development of varicose veins. They are not a permanent solution but relieves the symptoms.
Sclerotherapy - This procedure is carried out by injecting a solution into the varicose veins. It results in the shrinking of the veins, their close and eventual disappearance. This procedure is a safe, effective and non-aesthetic solution. For patients who suffer from extensive varicosities, an ultrasound scan is used to locate the right spot for solution injection.
Endovenous Laser Ablation - This procedure involves the insertion of a laser fiber into the affected vein via a needle. Next, heat energy is delivered through the laser, resulting in the shrinkage and eventual closure of the vein. This procedure is used to treat larger saphenous veins as well.
Ambulatory Phlebectomy Micro-Extraction - This procedure involves the removal of large surface varicose veins by using small incisions without stitches. During the procedure, the surgeon pulls the vein up and removes it in a delicate manner.

- Spider Veins:
- These types of veins normally appear on the face and legs. In essence, these are dilated and very small blood vessels having the appearance of bundles of small blue or red veins near the surface of the skin. People who suffer from spider veins experience pains, aches and itches.
Dr. Reese utilizes Sclerotherapy to provide treatment for spider veins. This treatment entails an injection of a solution to the affected vein. The blood in those veins is then re-directed to healthy veins around the affected area, causing shrinkage, closure and eventual disappearance.
- Hemorrhoids:
- This condition is one of the oldest and most embarrassing issues faced by people. In fact, over 75% of people suffer from hemorrhoids at some point in their lives.
Dr. Reese treats this condition using Infrared Coagulation (IRC) treatment. IRC involves the exposing of the area above the hemorrhoid to a flash of infrared light. This is achieved by using a small probe which is placed in the affected region. This treatment takes less than five minutes and a patient may need four or five sessions of such treatments.
