Dressing up for Halloween!

Halloween is my favorite holiday and getting to dress up as spooky creatures is part of the fun! Here's a lensography of all of my Halloween costume lenses to help you pick your next Halloween costume! Who will you go as this year?

Why I Love Dressing Up

Or why I've made dozens of costume lenses!

As a kid, dressing up wasn't limited to Halloween! I was constantly playing with scarves and costumes, old jewelry and other bits and pieces my family gave me to play with. If I saw something on TV or in one of my favorite movies, I instantly wanted to recreate it!

So Halloween was naturally an awesome time to find a costume and pretend to be something else! What other day of the year could you get candy for dressing up?

One of my earliest costumes my mom made was of a My Little Pony. I was big time into the little plastic horses and decided to go as one for Halloween. Mom labored for hours but eventually turned out a fuzzy blue jumpsuit out of an old bathrobe that had a magenta and white "mane" out of yarn. I was decidedly adorable!

The local high school had a sale every year of old costumes from their theatrical productions. One time I came home with a black and magenta sack dress that ended up being used the year I took my old leopard costume and put the dress on over it. I was a leopard princess! (I've always had a great imagination.)

There were years I went as animals, like a mouse and a coyote. I was always looking in the stores for pre-made costumes but they never seemed to have anything I wanted.

As I got older, costumes got to be more intellectual. Like the year I went as a wolf-in-sheep's clothing. (Check out my lens about that costume, it's down below!) And then there was the time I went as "bull-headed" -- just a pair of home-made clay horns I sculpted and a fake nose ring! I'm a Taurus, what can I say?

Ever since I joined Squidoo, I've made lots and lots of costume lenses through Squidboo. They seem to be my most popular lenses, too. Seems like everyone loves to dress up!
