Our Missing Angels

I am the stepmother of Mirynda and Kayleen Brown. They were abducted by their non-custodial Mother, Tanya Brown in March 2005. It has been two very long years and we will NEVER give up our search to bring them home safe.

The "system" that is there to protect our children and their rights failed them and failed us. We endured a lengthy court battle with no prevail. Child Protective Services found Tanya to be unfit and in need of mental counseling and the court system removed all legal and physical custody from her, yet still allowed her to have unsupervised visitation without thinking about the danger the kids were in. What kind of protection is that? The system gave her every opportunity to abduct the children and she did.

Unfortunately, family abduction laws are much different than stranger abductions. When she did not return the children after visitation and disappeared, we were not able to neither get an Amber Alert nor get the needed assistance from law enforcement until we went to court. This took three days after she abducted the girls and by then she had a huge head start. We have been searching diligently for two years and will never give up. The worst part is that her family admits knowing where she is and is not required by law to provide this information to law enforcement. Tanya is a fugitive with a felony warrant for kidnapping. Apparently it is not against the law to know the whereabouts of a fugitive as long as we cannot prove that they are assisting her financially or hiding her. We need to change this! Her family also needs to be held accountable!

As a Mother, I plead to everyone reading this to help change these laws and bring back the rights of the children that have no voice. Mirynda and Kayleen were taken from everything they loved, everything they knew to be safe and have been forced into a life of running, hiding and a life of unknown. To young to understand and know that the person they thought they could trust would take them away from the safe arms of their daddy, their sisters, brothers and grandparents. Our family is devastated and we miss them dearly!

Please pass these important websites on and use the information to assist us and other families in bringing our children home safe. It is important that children be given the rights they deserve instead of protecting the rights of criminals.

America's Most Wanted aired the segment featuring Tanya Diane Brown on December 1, 2007. We are very hopeful someone who knows the wherabouts of Tanya and our children will call the AMW hotline (1-800-CRIME-TV) with the information needed to bring our children home.

Tanya also abducted three other children from a previous marriage and we are very hopeful that not only Mirynda and Kayleen, but also Darion, Tori and Brady Densley will be home very soon.
