The Linear Mission

La Purisima Mission was the eleventh mission of the twenty-one Spanish Missions established in what became California. Mision La Purisima Concepcion de Maria Santisima was founded on December 8, 1787 by Franciscan Padre Presidente Fermin Francisco Lasuen. (Text and image from mission's official site.)

More information on Mission La Purisima Concepcion

Mission La Purísima Concepción, the second mission site to bear the name, was founded on the "Feast Day of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin" (December 8), 1787. The present site is located east of the City of Lompoc, California between Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo. The City of Lompoc was so small that the Roman Catholic Church made an exception to the rule that no mission is to be established within seven miles from any city (the original site of La Purísima was only one mile from the tiny town). It was moved four miles east of the town in 1812 after the Santa Barbara Earthquake severely damaged the Mission buildings on December 21st of that year.

A special recipe will be difficult to find. I would recommend that you look for books about the general time period to find out what people ate. Don't forget that you can always call the mission. Experts there might be able to very quickly answer your question!

I've added a link to a biography on Father Fermin Lausen. If you can, there is a full book written about him that was published in 1973. It's called "Fermin Francisco De Lausen (1736-1803): A Biography" by Francis Guest. It's an old book, so you'll have to look in your local library.
