Relationship Mistakes
Too Much Emphasis On My Career
In my earlier days back when I was in my twenties and thirties, I was extremely career focused. I had a goal to make a certain amount of money before I was a certain age. Let's just say it was a pretty ambitious goal to set. By the nature of my personality, I am a very relentless person. If I set out for something, I don't stop until I make it happen. Although this was one my greatest strengths in certain regards, it was also my biggest weakness when it came to a lot of earlier relationships. I was so focused that I'd work on Friday and Saturday nights, times of the week you should be spending with the love of your life. Each and every time I skipped out on my girlfriends, they got a little bit more fed up. This continued until they couldn't take it anymore and left me. I don't blame them either. They were all really great girls and they deserved to have someone that would give them all the time and attention in the world. It wasn't fair to them. I'll to you this, when they left me and I was wondering how to get my ex girlfriend back, at the time I had no clue what I was doing wrong. It was later in my life did I realize what a mistake I had made. If I could turn back time, I wouldn't wish to have worked longer hours, it would be to spend more time with the girl I loved.
Failure To Listen
This is a flaw I believe most men are wired to have from birth. Well, at least the majority of us. I think for the majority of us guys, when someone tells us we're wrong or points a weakness we have, our initial reaction is to defend ourselves. Instead of listening and paying attention to why they are saying what they are saying, we immediately think of ways why they are wrong and we are right. Again, my theory is this is just a flaw us men are born with. In my past relationships, I obviously wasn't a perfect partner. In fact, no one is. No one on Earth is perfect, we all have our flaws. Here's the catch, I wouldn't listen when my girlfriend would point it out and tell me it needs changing. If she said that I was too messy, instead of accepting it and changing my ways, I would complain that was a neat freak. If she said I spent to much time at work, I said she didn't appreciate me working to put food on the table. Notice how it was never my fault in these examples? Again, the women I was with just had enough of this behavior and eventually left me by the wayside. I learned the hard way that if you want a successful relationship, you have to be able to listen. Again, after I got dumped I'd beg and plead and look on everything I could on getting your ex back, but none of it mattered. I failed to actually listen to what they were saying and because of this, I kept making the same mistakes over and over.
Conclusion
Hopefully a few of the mistakes I've made over the years helped you learn more about relationships. Please, take them to heart so you don't lose quite amazing people in your life like I did. Once they're gone, they're gone and you'll do anything for them to come back to you.
