The Origin and Benefits of the Miswak Toothbrush Tree
Branches from the Miswak, or Peelu, tree have been used in the Saharan desert for thousands of years to clean and brush the teeth. What makes these so special for brushing the teeth is that they contain a natural source of fluoride, which we know today is vital for the prevention of tooth decay.
How to Use Miswak Sticks
To begin, you take the stick and peel or chew the bark off of 1 cm of the end of the miswak stick. You then chew the wood in the middle until the fibers are seperated. Then you brush and move the branch over your teeth, cleaning and removing debris and tarter build-up.You can take the stick with you wherever you go and no need for water.
You break off older pieces from the end revealing fresh branch as the ends get dirty or torn up.
