Blood Type A
People with Blood Type A face more health challenges than any of the other blood types. They face a higher incidence of cancer and heart disease and have difficulty maintaining their weight. This is due mainly to the Standard American Diet (SAD) that consists mainly of meat and dairy as staple foods. I wonder how many people are facing these challenges today and have no clue that their blood type could be the main culprit. They continue to consume foods that are not compatible with their body and suffer needlessly. They take drugs to lower their cholesterol, are subject to surgery, chemotherapy and radiation when cancer develops and are always on the lookout for the latest wonder drug to help them to lose weight. Maybe a change in diet is all that is needed. Besides, aren't we always told to eat right and exercise when we go for a checkup? Could it be that sickness and disease are acceptable? It's difficult to go up against the meat, dairy and drug companies. They simply are too powerful. Increased profits are the driving force, even if it is to the detriment of society. This lens is basically a review of the book "Eat Right 4 Your Type" by Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo. I key on blood type A because it is my blood type and I have had success in following the recommendations contained there.
A Little History
The theory is that in the beginning everyone had blood type O. Thus blood type O stands for "original". As man began to survive and thrive he learned many new skills. Primary was his need to hunt and provide food for his family. With better methods of hunting and the expansion of man the animal population began to dwindle. To ensure the survival of future generations man had to adapt to eating more agrarian type foods. Thus blood type A (agrarian) evolved. When the animal kingdom began to rebound man adapted to a balance of meat and vegetables. This resulted in the evolution of blood type B (both). Though this theory has come under debate recently, I believe in the need to make wise food choices based on the recommendations in "Eat Right 4 Your Type". Find Out Your Blood Type
If you don't know your blood type a neat little kit is available on Amazon.com called the Blood Type Eldoncard Typing Test Kit. You simply prick a finger, extract 4 drops of blood, and place them on 4 spots on the Eldoncard. Based on how the blood reacts with the anti-A, anti-B anti-D and control serums, your blood type is determined. When dry the card is sealed in plastic and can be retained for future reference.
The Standard American Diet (SAD)
How many times a day does the average person eat meat? Once, twice, three times? Some people do it and never gain a pound. Others do it and their weight skyrockets. Along with the weight, cholesterol builds up along with triglycerides in the blood. How many people with high cholesterol know that about 25% of the cholesterol in the body comes from the food we eat? Call it the animals revenge. Now what about blood type A's? By the book they're not supposed to eat much meat, but not knowing the facts eat it regularly. Is this the reason why most diets fail? Could it be that people who diet are just eating less of the foods that are doing them no good in the first place? Could this be why there is an obesity epidemic in this country? Maybe there is a connection between diet and blood type. Type A Susceptible Diseases
Heart Disease
Higher cortisol levels can result in various stress responses and lead to disrupted sleep, increased blood viscosity (blood thickening), and insulin resistance".

Cancer
"With the exception of bladder cancer, there is a statistical association between increased risk of cancer and people with blood type A. This includes colon cancer, ovarian and breast cancer, liver and pancreatic cancer, prostate cancer and brain tumors. That is not to say people of other blood types don't get cancer. It simply means that blood type A people have less defense against it.For the scientifically minded, the reason is quite simple and very profound. It seems that cancer cells have certain type A qualities that make it almost invisible to the immune system in blood type A people. The larger the cancer grows the more invisible it becomes".

Diabetes
"There is one page in the book dedicated to Diabetes in which it indicates that blood Type A and Type B are more prone to Type I diabetes and recommends seeing a nutritionist who is skilled in the use of phytochemicals to consider using quercetin, an antioxidant derived from plants. Quercetin has been shown to help prevent many of the complications stemming from lifelong diabetes, such as cataracts, neuropathy, and cardiovascular problems but you may have to readjust your insulin dosage".Source: http://altmedangel.com/diabetes.htm
Blood Type A Foods To Avoid
Meat
Blood type A's are not recommended to eat any kind of meat. I wonder how many type A's know this! Type A's tend to have trouble digesting meat and tend to have low acidic levels in their stomachs. Type A's do well on a vegetarian diet. Type A's should mainly eat seafood and rarely eat poultry. Their main source of protein should be from beans and legumes, most notably soy. The bulk of their diet should be fruits and vegetables. See Dr. D'Adamo's book for more info. Eggs and Dairy

Beans and Legumes
Conclusion
Being a type A, I felt it was important to let people know of the possibility of a link between blood type and diet. We have been eating the S.A.D. diet all our lives and have seen our health slowly decline over the years. We have seen our loved ones succumb to cancer, stroke, diabetes, heart disease, etc. I think of the many people who are doing everything they can to lower their cholesterol, triglycerides and lose weight to no avail. Growing up I always ate the meat and potatoes type of diet. I drank milk, slathered butter on toast and enjoyed bacon and eggs all the time. It was not until I read Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo's book that I realized that the majority of foods I was eating were not compatible to my metabolism. Even if you are not blood type A his book tells you which foods are either highly beneficial (medicine), neutral (food) or avoid (poison) for your specific blood type. I highly recommend his book Eat Right 4 Your Type.

Health vs. Profits
Do you think that the health of the nation is secondary to profits made on food and drugs?

Of course!
No way!
Doityourself says:
This is a free trade nation and if mothers and fathers feed their children properly with the right foods, our nation would be better off. Unfortunately the parents are eating it more than the children nowadays.
