Recent World Series History
Recent History for these four teams
With these four teams making it into the final four I thought we could quickly look at each teams recent World Series History:
Boston Red Sox - Recent WS wins in 2004, 2007
The reigning World Series Champions, the Red Sox are still the odds on favorite to win it all. This team has no glaring holes and has developed internally with strong minor league talent (ellsbury, Youk, Pedroia) and added in some solid veterans through trades and free agency. They have the highest payroll of any remaining playoff team.
Los Angeles Dodgers - WS in 1988
While the Dodgers have had plenty of regular season success, they have not advanced to the world series since 1988. They added Manny Rameriz to complement young stars such as Martin, Loney and Kemp. Some poor off-season moves (Andruw Jones) have hurt this team financially.
Philadelphia Phillies
The most potent offense in the post-season, this team relies heavily on the homerun, with strong power hitters Howard, Burrel, Werth, Utley and Rollins. Their pitching is under-rated by most.
Tampa Bay Rays
The upstart franchise features one of baseball's lowest payrolls and is full of home grown talent. With the current contract set-up this team should be near the top of the AL East for the next three seasons before having to drop payroll. They hold the best regular season record of any team left in the 2008 MLB playoffs.
