First, My Story in Network Marketing 

I Was a MLM Skeptic, Are You?

I am passionate about Network Marketing and the ability this industry offers you and me to positively empower and affect the lives of others. But, I didn't always feel this way. I was an MLM skeptic!

My success story in Network Marketing would not be complete without sharing the first part of my story, and how and why I decided to take my Network Marketing business to the Internet.

My story is similar to many, maybe even yours.

I had a very fun and rewarding career in the airline industry, specifically in marketing. I traveled around the world on the company expense account, wining and dining potential accounts. It was a blast.

However, once my husband and I decided to start a family, I struggled with the same decision as many men and women - should I give up my career and stay home and raise my children myself. Or, should I leave them in someone else's care.

The choice was easy, really. My family came first. But I wanted more. Maybe you do, too. Living on one income is tough and certainly not fun. Where was all the fun, travel and life experience money going to come from?

I began doing some serious research into what my options might be. What was out there for me?

My research kept pointing me back to the Network Marketing industry. And, I was not really interested. Although I didn't really know anything about this industry, I had "heard" about it. You know, "So and So's brother got into one of those deals and lost all of his money and all of his friends.

Since I kind of like my money and kind of like my friends, I was certain that MLM was probably not for me.

But, nothing else was shaping up to be a fit either. So, I decided to research MLM and re-evaluate the Network Marketing industry.

A few months later, my husband and I found the right company and we jumped in with both feet. We began building a solid business and a second income, and never looked back.

Fast forward six and one half years. I now have two children, my husband is gone half of the month with his job, and I am constantly scheduling babysitters for group meetings, trainings, and one on one business presentations all over town.

The business was growing, the money was good, and I was unhappy, feeling like a fraud. I was beginning to feel as if I was lying when I told someone I had a home based business. After all, I was never home and although my kids weren't in day care, they had plenty of babysitters.

I was tired of working warm market and even cold market through ads, networking events, etc. The three foot rule could not have been less appealing and the thought of "mall walking" made me sick. Putting sizzle cards on windshields may work for some, but I felt guilty, like I was littering and not cool.

I was very interested in developing a system where qualified prospects would come to me. I wanted leads who were interested in a business, potentially interested in my business specifically, and who were serious!

How and Why I Took My MLM Business Online 

I didn't start out as an MLM Success Story. The Internet changed that. Here is that story in a nutshell...

Was it possible to have people come to me? Would that really happen? I had faith that it could. But how?

Oddly enough, about that time, I attended a seminar about the Internet, which was quite foreign to me. When I came out of the seminar, my head was spinning.

If people were going to the Internet to find answers and solutions, then I needed to get to the Internet. Surely people were online looking for a home business and even a MLM Business Online!

All throughout my career in Network Marketing, "heavy hitters" shared that in order to be full time in the business, and earn a big paycheck; your business has to be out in front of people four to eight times a day. Right, with two toddlers?

I could see, however, that using the Internet, I could leverage my time because five, ten, twenty, even fifty people or more could be viewing my business at the same time, online! And, they didn't have to be geographically close to me. I didn't even have to know them!

And, thus began the journey of my life!







In the first six months, I sponsored more people online than I did in six years offline. And, they all came to me!

Today, I am still happily building a very successful business, and teaching others how to do the same along the way. And, I am doing it with integrity, style, and on my own terms; something largely lacking online.

I want to teach you how to develop a system of your own that will allow someone to find you, go through your business, get enough of their questions answered and even sign up, without you even knowing about it!

It could even happen while you are sleeping, playing golf, vacationing, or anywhere but in front of your computer.

Now, imagine if you have a team of people also doing this. Others who have their business set up to be constantly out there and in front of those who are looking for the right program and the right sponsor. The sorting and signing up process is streamlined and in place for those for whom the time is right!

Exciting, isn't it?

Now, here is a warning and a disclaimer. (You knew that was coming, right?) Don't expect to absorb everything at once. Do expect to feel at times like possibly you can't do this. If you aren't "techie" (and I am not) it may seem like you have bitten off more than you can chew. You haven't. I promise. You can do this. Believe in yourself and know that it is so worth it.

Follow along with the steps I outline and you'll know exactly what I did to achieve a high, six figure income without leaving my house to build my MLM Business. This is an MLM Online Business.

Simple Web Site Template Builder

The second option is simple and affordable and has great templates for a professional look. Nice traffic tracking tools are in place, too. It does not have the same Search Engine Submission and Ranking tools in place as SBI, but with some work on your part, you can still get a great ranking. It's as simple as working with a word document, using this builder. At least give the 10 day trial a go and you'll be sold on the tools and how simple it is.

You have a Site; Where is Everybody?

My Three Primary Ways of Getting People to My Site 

• Writing Articles. Go to Google and Type in Jackie Ulmer Articles. You'll see what I mean.
  
• Getting Involved in MLM and Work at Home Forums. People are online looking for answers. They are most often in Comunities online
  
• Social Networking Sites - MySpace, YouTube, Blogger, Squidoo, FaceBook - these are all great examples of ways you can find people online, and more importantly have them find you.
  

Writing Articles and Getting Them Published Online 

A fast way to get the word out about YOU and your website, too!

In my opinion, marketing online is the BEST system, but, like anything, it takes solid, consistent effort. You must establish yourself online as a credible, knowledgeable business owner. Once you do that, the rest begins to take care of itself.

Writing articles has been another of my strongest marketing tools online. I originally began writing articles to fill up space in my own newsletter, and then learned that I could make those same articles available for other publishers to use in their newsletter, and include a resource box directing people to my web site.

At the bottom of each article, you will see my resource box. Begin to develop a resource box that "sells" you, and don't be shy.

A published article is one hundred times more effective than a paid advertisement. It gives you instant credibility and endorsement by the publisher.

You may be thinking that you can't write or have nothing to write about, but I assure you that you do. Ken Evoy, author of Make Your Site Sell publishes another incredible book on pulling your knowledge and experiences out of your brain and putting them on paper. It's called Make Your Knowledge Sell and it's available at

His third book, Make Your Words Sell is equally as good. These resources helped me collect my thoughts and experiences and get them into something that would produce for me. We all have experiences and out there online, there are people every where that can relate to your experiences. How do you think I started my journey writing and selling e-books?

I started visiting sites with articles and reading some of them to get an idea what was out there and what people were writing about.

You do not have to write articles specific to your business, your product, or Network Marketing.

What subject areas do you know a lot about? Write articles around this and submit to publishers who need this type of information.

Are you a gourmet cook? Do you like fine wine? Do you travel extensively?

Write a fun, interesting article around a subject near, dear, and known to your heart. Then, include your business link in your resource box.

Go to Google.com and type in How to Write Articles.

You'll find current, informative resources to assist you with how to write, format and submit your articles for publication.

You'll find BLOGS as well as Youtube videos and many resources to show you how it's done.

When you have your first article or two ready and want to submit them onto some sites to be listed and published, go to Google.com and type in article submission sites.

These will get you started. Each site will have slightly different rules and protocol for getting your article out there. Set up a notepad file where you save your writers bio. This is a short blurb about you as the author and includes a link to your website. Having much of the repetitive content stored in a file makes the submission process faster.

Social Networking Sites and Forums 

Social Networking Sites and Forums Online are a GREAT way to get the word out about YOU and your business.

Here's the key though - You don't go in and tell everyone how wonderful your opportunity is. You go in and network, getting to know people.

Here is what Wikipedia.com has written about MySpace -

"MySpace is a social networking website offering an interactive, user-submitted network of friends, personal profiles, blogs, groups, photos, music and videos internationally...

According to Alexa Internet, MySpace is currently the world's sixth most popular website, and the third most popular website in the United States, though it has topped the chart on various weeks.

The service gradually gained more popularity than similar websites to achieve nearly 80% of visits to online social networking websites in 2006. Today its traffic is similar to that of Facebook, a competing social network.

The company employs 300 staff and does not disclose revenues or profits separately from News Corporation. The 100 millionth account was created on August 9, 2006 in the Netherlands and a news story claimed 106 million accounts on September 8, 2006, and the site reportedly attracts 230,000 new registrations per day. As of January 2007, there are over 200 million accounts."

Imagine the traffic you can ultimately drive to your personal website and the number of people you can expose to your business if you are networking properly out online.

So, as you are building a profile and developing a presence at any social networking site, go with good intentions, and have clear intentions.

Make sure your opportunity is listed there but don't be hype filled. No one likes that. Remember Social Etiquette. Now, you may find over time that MySpace doesn't fit you, but it's a good place to jump in and get your feet wet.

Once you create your profile or bio there, be sure to save all of your text in a Word or Notepad file so you can easily cut and paste as you move on and create other sites.



Now, before you get frustrated, take a deep breath and KNOW that you will take this one step at a time.

Here is my Social Site at MySpace. This is a BUSY site and can be a little overwhelming at first, with all of the blinking and such. But, worth your time to get to know and build a page.

Things to Keep in Mind About Social Networks 

1. Make sure you have a personal website to take people TO once they find you on a Social Networking site. You want to develop the relationship and capture their contact information. This is done at YOUR personal site.
   
2. Remember, SOCIAL Etiquette rules! No one wants to hear about how they can make "$10,000 in 10 days" or anything like that. When you are online in a forum or social site, pretend like you are walking into a party. Only behave in the way you would if you were face to face. Would you walk in blaring your opportunity? I hope not!
   
3. Make sure you don't get too bogged down with blinking, flashing and slow loading. People will not wait to see your page load if it takes too long.
   
4. Get involved. Part of your weekly online strategy will involve re-visiting and networking on these sites. People need to see you, then know you, like you, trust you.
   
5. Have fun! It's like a big party out there, and you don't have to dress up!
