Different Types Of Network Marketing

Network marketing sounds like a simple business, but it has many intricate innerworkings. It's actually a complex system, though the name doesn't sound that broad. This article will list a few different types of network marketing and their differences to one another.

Real Network Marketing 

REAL network marketing is actually a specific business run differently than traditional or Internet network marketing.

REAL network marketing is done the 'proper' way, and is said to be the fourth generation business system in existence.

REAL network marketing is only run in this fashion. REAL network marketing differs apparently from regular network marketing and the two are apparently not supposed to be confused.

Traditional Network Marketing 

Traditional network marketing can be quite costly as compared to real and Internet network marketing.

Traditional network marketing requires lots of contact, whether by phone or mail, as well as costly
advertising by Internet or paper.

Traditional network marketing requires meetings in person, as well as costing more time than Internet network marketing.

This is why many people have gone to Internet network marketing.

Traditional network marketing is the old-fashioned and first known form of network marketing.

Internet Network Marketing 

Internet network marketing is so popular that instead, in this day and age, of being called Internet network marketing, is just simply called network marketing or multi-level marketing, and has bumped the name of original network marketing to traditional network marketing.

Internet network marketing saves much more time, money and effort than REAL or traditional network marketing, which is why so many businesses have looked to this form of network marketing rather than the others.

Lots of network marketing businesses out there today originally started out with traditional network marketing, then naturally moved to the bigger and better world of Internet network marketing.

Network Marketing Ups And Downs 

Each of these different types of network marketing will give you different results.

Internet network marketing is obviously the most popular form and will probably give you the most and best results, but some companies still prefer to use the old fashioned way of traditional network marketing.

If you can do traditional network marketing and keep it cheap, it can give you some good results as well.

There are still companies out there who have stayed faithful to the traditional form of network marketing (such as REAL network marketing) and probably don't plan on moving to the Internet.

The advantage to traditional network marketing is that now that so many names of businesses have moved on to Internet network marketing,
companies using traditional network marketing don't have as much competition as Internet network marketers, and will gain probably more popularity if advertised properly than companies using Internet network marketing do.

As mentioned, probably the biggest downfall to traditional network marketing is the costs of things such as advertisements (paper and extra employees), communication (having to call people or meet face-to-face), employees (paying more per sale for effort of working), and investments such as websites (Internet network marketers sometimes do not have to pay for a website in the early stages of network marketing).

If a company has the expenses to be able to pay extra for these things, traditional network marketing may be the way to go.

If you succeed, you have a good chance at being more popular than Internet network marketers.

Network Marketing Terminology 

If you expect to start a successful network marketing company or build a very large network, you had better get familiarized with the terminology or jargon!

Builder
A builder is a distributor who is actively looking for downlines. A builder is not the same as a customer who only consumes the products or recommends them to friends.

Upline
You are in their organization. An upline usually earns commission from your group volume. You may have several uplines possibly up to 10-20 levels in depth. Normally, an upline is responsible for your success. An upline may not necessarily be an upline leader/mentor.

Upline Leader/Mentor
This is an upline that you actively seek counseling from on how to build your business. They are here to guide you and are here to mentor you and make sure you succeed in the business.

Sponsor
You are directly under him or her. Normally they are the one who introduced you to the company.

Downline
They are in your organization. Depending on the nature of the plan, your commission from their group usually is smaller the deeper they are in the organization. Sometimes, your downline's downline could be many levels deep in your organization so you might not even know him personally.

Sideline/Crossline
These people are not in your organization and neither are you in theirs. Basically there are no monetary relationship between your group and the sideline's group. However, depending on the culture promoted in the company, they are either perceived as the worst competitors, or valuable allies. Take note also, that somewhere along the line, they are also in your upline's group, so helping your sideline means helping your upline and his group.

Front Line
These are downlines that are personally sponsored by you or are directly under you. You must be directly responsible for their success because you are the one who introduced them to this business. Furthermore, the development of your frontline will determine the success and failure of an entire downline group.

Leg
A leg is a downline group in your network starting from the person you personally sponsored. He and all the downlines under him are considered one of your legs. A distributor usually develops many legs simultaneously.

Width
The number of people you can personally sponsor. Matrixes and Binaries usually limit the maximum width. Normally a strong downline is one that builds and develops a very large width.

Depth
Depth refers to the level of your downline's downline. A person who has build depth usually has a secure organization.

Override
An override means you are paid a certain percentage over your downline's group. Normally an override is calculated on your frontline only.

Profit Sharing Pool
Profit sharing is a bonus that is paid out to achievers who have reached certain conditions in the marketing plan. A pool is a collection of sales volume from distributors all over the company regardless of whether the sales volume comes from your sideline.

Maintenance
A mandatory (sometimes optional depending on certain criteria) sales volume a distributor must achieve. Often maintenance is done to override your downline, become eligible for profit sharing, or maintain a certain rank or even the distributorship. Normally this is enforced because the company needs to make money as well.

Total Payout
This means that a percentage of a product sold by the company that is set aside for distributors and retail sales only. The company only keeps the remainder.

Network Marketing Business Can Be Built Without Cold Calling 

Cold calling is one of the worst ways to build your network marketing business. As the name implies, it sends a chill down the networker's spine as they attempt to pick up the phone and attempts to sell something to a total stranger.

Gone are the days of shooting in the dark. If you want to build a network marketing business effectively, the first thing you must do is to stop buying dead beat leads on the Internet and literally hang up your phone.

According to the law of attraction marketing, making cold calls is probably the most desperate way to build your network marketing business because it places you at the bottom of the 'food chain'. You will be devoured alive by strangers because you are in a position where you are at the weakest and most vulnerable.

Network Marketing Is A Business Just Like Any Other 

What is the purpose of starting a home business? To make profit.

Most businesses spend more money than they make that's why they go belly up.

So why should network marketing be any different?

The common belief is that network marketing is a business that appreciates in value over time. In other words, if I have a group of 100 to 1,000 people under me buying the product and recruiting more, I'd be getting richer and richer! But we all know that.

It is not the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. It's SURVIVING the first 6 months to 2 years!

It is common that most network marketers in a new industry typically go through a 6 months trial and error period, therefore, it is crucial to ensure that during those 6 training months, you manage your cash wisely so you can learn and make money at the same time.

Just like in normal business, most of them fail within their first 2 years of operation and struggle to make profit even if they do survive. The key to survival is CASH FLOW.

In other words, it can be summed up in this equation:

Cash today, downline tomorrow.

People in network marketing usually run out of cash flow normally after 3 months and they quit because they spend more as they build. But by breaking even as fast as possible, it gives tremendous mental strength to the distributor and he or she is less likely to drop out.

First, we must understand the mindset which is the most important starting point in getting by the first 3 months.
