Network marketing, direct sales, mlm, is referred to as the perfect business opportunity, the perfect business model. Even though some are finding it rather difficult to succeed in, yet because of its business practice, and the skills that are developed in network marketing, people tend to hold out, trusting that their persistence could pay off in the long run. There is a traditional way of networking, and a modern way. In the traditional way, you were asked to make a list of prospects. This list is broken down into a warm market, which is family and friends, and should be prospected first. Then the not so warm market, which includes acquaintances,referrals, etc, then the cold market, which is people you don't know, those you may meet in the super market, gas station, dry cleaners, etc.
There is also what they call, the 3-foot rule, that is, anyone that comes within 3 feet of you, should be prospected.
There is the referral list, that is a list of prospect obtained from people you prospected, and asked for name of people who might be interested in the opportunity or product.

The Methods Used Today

Today we have the use of the internet, which makes life easier for the network marketer to prospect. There are also a lot of different types of systems that drives prospects to the network marketer.
