What? You Mean I Need to Know How to Set An Advertising Budget for My Network Marketing Business 



It never ceases to amaze me the number of network marketers who think so small that they don't need to spend money to make money.

It's okay if you want to how to build your network marketing business on a budget. There are a lot of great ways to do it. You can use craigslist, traffic exchanges, blogs, social networking, press releases... but the free methods will only get you so far.

If you want to get serious results in your business and generate a hundred leads or more per week, sooner or later you're going to have spend some money. If you know how much money you'll make from your leads, it's worth it.

Let's look at a quick example here...

Let me tell you, I spend $500 per month (sometimes more) on advertising, marketing, buying products... to double my money. If you know what you're doing, spending $500 to make $1,000 (clearing $500 profit) is a pretty darn good return on investment if you ask me.

If you ask anyone that runs a traditional business if they have 100% or more ROI every month they probably say no way, "I wish!" Here in lies the problem with MLM, it's too cheap and most newbies are so afraid to lose money on a bad marketing campaign, they quake in their boots about spending money on the product itself, much less advertising and marketing it. This is why it pays to work with experienced marketers who know how to advertise.

Here is the other side of the coin to think about. This is the power and the reason of why network marketing is pure business genius.

Imagine you have 25 to 30 others in your downline (building YOUR business) who are also big thinkers and spend $500 to $1,000 on their marketing. This grows their business and yours. How many traditional business owners do you know that can say they have other people paying to advertise for their business...? My guess is NONE!

This is why I simply won't waste time with whiners who worry about spending a few bucks on marketing because they "can't afford it". Instead of using that as an excuse, use it as reason. My reason for spending money on growing my business was because I couldn't afford the lifestyle that I wanted. The words "I can't" got buried in my back yard... here is the picture to prove it.


Start saying "I can", "I can", "I can"! Your subconscious mind doesn't know the difference between the truth and a lie.

If you know that every time you invest money in yourself and in growing your business, you're investing in growing your income. Not to mention the kind of freedom and lifestyle that a successful network marketing business can provide you.

Now if you're just getting started in network marketing then you may not realize it IS a BUSINESS and it does take money to make money, unless you can talk to a lot of people in your warm market. The sacrifice there is that it takes a lot more time, gumption, and energy to work your warm market successfully. This is why I do both warm marketing and internet lead generation.

When building your business becomes your lifestyle then you simply don't sweat the small stuff anymore.

If you're really struggling financially I understand. Feeding your family comes first, but what would you be willing to do for success? Are you willing to invest a lot of time and energy talking to people in your warm market to start making money without spending any? If so, then be like nike and "just do it".

If you'd rather sacrifice money to save time and energy so you can focus on attracting more quality prospects, then spend the money. Be sure to track what ads work and which ads don't, so you don't waste money on a bad ad campaign more than once. It will happen, but when you track what works you can just rinse and repeat.

The next time you think you can't afford it, ask yourself... "when will I EVER be able to afford it?"

The answer to this is simple, when you know how much your willing to sacrifice, be it money or time, to get your business going. Be very clear on why you want to have a successful business in the first place.

What kind of freedom and lifestyle will your business bring you and your family?

Imagine very clearly the image of what that looks like in your mind. Think about that night and day with such a burning desire, that the sacrifices you make to get there don't seem like sacrifices at all.

How to Enroll More Prospects For Your Network Marketing Business

Let's face it, as network marketers we all want to know how to enroll more prospects in our businesses.

I was thinking of something I heard in Mike Dillard's Black Belt Recruiting course that I'd like to share with you. I've been having a lot of fun studying this course and it's made me reflect and remember some of the mistakes I made when I first got started in network marketing.

If you've been struggling to enroll people in your business, or you would just like to know how to be a little more effective as a leader, these tips are crucial to your success.

One way you can enroll more prospects is to put yourself in the position of you doing your prospect a favor. A lot of networkers think the prospect is doing them a favor by listening to their pitch, when it's really backward thinking.

You are doing your prospects a favor by giving them the opportunity to work with you. When you honestly believe in your heart that your business is the greatest opportunity in the world, you ARE doing them a favor.

Here is an example of how one of these conversations with a prospect might go down...

"I want to do you a favor mr. prospect because I think you're a really sharp guy. I'm going to send you a copy of a cd you can listen to that explains how the business works, and what you'll actually be doing should we decide to work together. Once you've had a chance to listen to it I'll follow up with you and answer any questions you might have".

You're doing 3 things when you say something like this to a prospect.

1. You're putting yourself in the position of a counselor, not a salesman.

2. You're letting your prospect know that you don't work with everyone, and he's lucky you're even talking to him.

3. He is going to listen to that cd because he knows you're going out of your way to help him.

When you go at it with this mentality it totally allows you to turn the tables and position yourself as leader. It's clear to your prospect that you have a high level of confidence in yourself and in your business.

You're not coming off as desperate or needy in this situation, and that is the one reason why many network marketers fail to enroll prospects. You are a lot more attractive to your prospects when they know you don't need them and you're there to help them.

3 Key Elements of A Good Internet Network Marketing Lead Generation System 

There has been a lot of chatter within the network marketing industry about online lead generation systems. There are several great ones out there, so if you're not sure which one's for you, then this article will help you decide based on 3 crucial elements.

The first key elements of a good online network marketing lead generation system is having control of your leads. Make sure the system you use gives you the ability to download your prospects that opt - in to your lead capture pages.

This is YOUR list of contacts and it can be your most valuable asset in your career as a network marketer.

The second key element is an ad tracking system. There is one online network marketing lead generation system that has this already built in, and you can find out more about it at the end of this article.

The reason you need an ad tracking system is because you need to know which ads are working and which one's aren't. If you just drive all your traffic to the same link without tracking it, you don't know where your best leads came from. When you know where your best leads come from, then you can go there and place another ad.

In other words, when you track what works you can do it again. If the ad bombs then you know you need to change it. Testing and tracking are critical to your success in online MLM lead generation.

The third and I think most important is the ability to put your picture and contact information on your page. This is the personal branding touch. At the end of the day your prospects are ultimately buying you, not the guru. Make sure you have a way to brand yourself.

The above factors are really the whole point to even having an online network marketing lead generation system to start with. Generating leads that you can convert into cash with funded proposal, such as an e-book or training course, puts cash in your pocket and funds your advertising.

The other important piece of this prospecting puzzle is converting those leads into distributors for your primary MLM on the back end. A good online network marketing lead generation system will help you do just that.

How To Use Twitter to Build Your Network Marketing Business 

The whole point of twitter is to brand yourself, not pitch your biz-op!

I won't go into a huge explanation of what twitter is, but I will explain how to use twitter to build your network marketing business. Basically twitter is a social networking site that allows you to tell people what you're up to in a couple of sentences. Like a blog post but not as long. You're limited to 140 characters per post.

Just like any other social networking site, twitter is a great place to build relationships, not to pitch your opportunity. This is the number one mistake that a lot of network marketers are making right now, not just on twitter but other social networks as well.

The day twitter becomes a total pitch-fest for you is the day you'll be branded as a spammer. Step number one is be careful not to follow too many people when you first start. You want people to follow you just like you want people to join your MLM, so don't appear needy by following everybody and their grandmother on twitter.

P.S. and by the way, if your grandmother is using twitter then she is more of techie than I am, so there's no need to feel intimidated by new technologies. Embrace them, because it will take you far when it comes to the practice of building yourself as a brand.

A good rule of thumb is to have more people following you than you are following, so when you first get started it's a good idea to send an e-mail to everyone you know encouraging them to follow you on twitter. If you follow too many people before anyone follows earn you a spot on the twitter blacklist, and that's not the list you want to be on.

Don't just say "hey you guys, follow me on twitter!" Give people a good reason to follow you for the valuable content you'll be providing there. The whole point of twitter is to help you brand yourself as a leader that people will want to pay attention to and be attracted to.

Just like with blogs, twitter is the place to report great things you find out about that actually help people in your market. For example, when I learned how to improve my article marketing skills I told my blog readers about it. Content is king, so there's no need to use twitter to pitch people. You'll get to allow your readers to sell themselves on what you're doing by attracting them to your website later.

Which website should you use for your twitter profile? I use my blog as my primary twitter profile website link because the whole point of twitter is to help you brand yourself as an expert in your industry, NOT to pitch people on your biz-op, remember?

The last and final twitter tip is to get more people to follow you, you can put your twitter link in your e-mail signature, in your forum signature, on your blog, on your myspace, on your facebook, anywhere that you do social networking.

Here's another quick tip. Twitter is great for building relationships, so remember to use it for good by sending positive replies to people you are following. The old adage of "help and be helped" goes on long way on twitter.

When you simply focus on the entire of point of using twitter, which is to brand yourself through providing valuable content, you'll be king of the twitter hill in no time.

MLM Prospecting With Mike Dillard; Magnetic Sponsoring is Not What You Might Think!
