Listening is a skill that is rarely used 

Learn to read your prospects

Not everyone can be treated the same. You will turn people off with a cookie cutter approach or a script or worse - sending them to a "closer".
Each and everyone of us has a primary "colour" or personality that drives our behaviour. Learning those colours is a prospecting tip that will build your business bigger than you could ever imagine.
A stair step break away compensation plan or any compensation plan that requires a constant recruiting will be the death of a yellow. They can't do it. They will quit but only after you have spent a fair amount of time training them. Disheartening to both of you. Recognize and identify the personality that works in your business model.
The key to successful prospecting is listening, identifying the colour and then modify your approach based on what you have learned.

THE COLOURS -


Blue - 15% of the population and the highest percentage in network marketing. Blues love fun, excitement, they need a compensation plan that rewards them instantly and consistently to keep the excitement high. They don't need details to join your opportunity. Will see the big picture quickly.
I have a friend that is so blue all you have to do is nod and say "uh uh" a couple of times during the conversation and she is happy. She's always got 18 things on the go because she can't focus on one thing long enough to actual finish a project. If he/she joins your business, you'll have to help them get and stay focused.

Yellow - 35% of the population. Yellows are the nuturers. Their comp plan should pay deep, deep and then they'll be happy. They like to bring someone into their business and then help them and help the ones they bring in and so on. They are family focused and you'll tick them off if you talk about money with them. They need to know they are not risking their families security and talking to them means you talk about what they can do for their family if they made some extra money. Family vacations, family outings, family, family, family. Their downline becomes their family. Ge gentle with a yellow. Their feelings can get hurt easily.
Greens - 35% of the population. You want to talk money to a green you better be prepared to be able to explain the compensation plan step by step in great detail. They want to know all about the product, the company, the management, the exact steps they have to take to get where they want to go. They will click on every link in your website and the answers better be there. They will analyze everything to death and sometimes miss opportunities because of it. Your challenge is to encourage them to take the first step even though they don't know what step 7 is.
Red - the power people. They are impressed with meeting the president and want every one to know they golf with the big shots. Dress for success even if they haven't achieved it yet. Fast cars, expensive watches, anything that speaks "success". Bring them into your business but be prepared to train their downline. They don't have time for that. Your challenge is make sure they know you admire them, you appreciate them. Introduce them to all the bigwigs in your company. Create the opportunities for your prospect to be a part of that circle and they will join you.

Learning how to listen and then talk to your prospects will be the most important MLM prospecting tip you will ever learn.
