Nellis Air Force Base
Nellis Air Force Base, aka the "Home of the Fighter Pilot", is located in North Las Vegas, and is home to the U. S. Air Force Warfare Center. The base is named in honor of William Harrell Nellis, a Las Vegas resident and Army Air Force pilot that died during WWII.
Nellis Air Force Base covers an area of 11,300 acres and is divided into three main sectors. The first sector contains the airfield and all mission support buildings. The second sector contains one of the largest munitions storage sites in the U. S. The third sector lies directly across Las Vegas Boulevard from the main base, and contains a Federal Hospital and housing for base personnel.
Approximately 25% of the total electrical power requirements for the base are provided by a 14 megawatt solar-panel power generation system.
The main units currently assigned to Nellis are the 57th Wing, responsible for the world's most advanced combat training; the 98th Range Wing which provides command and control of the Nevada Test and Training Range, and the 99th Air Base Wing which oversees the daily operations of the base.

Alan Bible Botanical Garden
This desert themed botanical garden features a variety of cacti, as well as many local desert trees and shrubs. Various plant communities found throughout the region are also on display.
The Desert Discovery Center is an excellent place to learn all about the Mohave Desert and the extreme conditions that exist there. There are also many opportunities to explore the various exhibits that teach about such things as: how animals and plants are able to survive in such harsh conditions; what the land was like before the building of Hoover Dam and how much the desert landscape has changed its appearance over the centuries.
There are also many items on sale at the Information Desk, such as maps, hiking trail guides, and hiking staffs for the adults; desert themed puppets and games for the children and much, much more.
Marjorie Barrick Museum
The Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural Arts is located on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas. It was originally known as the UNLV Museum of Natural History but in 1989 it was renamed in honor of Marjorie Barrick, a long standing supporter and benefactor of the university.
On display are a number of cultural collections that have been lovingly gathered over the past forty years. Some of the objects on display date back several thousand years.
One collection of Pre-Columbian items includes Navajo jewelry, Hopi basketry, Bolivian textiles and Mexican dance masks.
There is also an ongoing exhibit that features objects representing the native cultures of Mesoamerica and the American Southwest, and regular educational programming for all ages.
Currently there is a photographic exhibit called "View America Through The Lens Of Legendary Photographer Ansel Adams" featuring over thirty of Ansel Adam's most famous photographs.
Outside the museum lies a 1.5 acre garden.
The museum also houses the Harry Reid Center for Environmental Studies, which include a well stocked research library and a conference facility.
Howard W. Cannon Aviation Museum
The museum is a joint project of the Department of Aviation and the Department of Parks and Recreation, and is named in honor of retired Senator Howard W. Cannon.
There are over thirty exhibits containing thousands of items that illustrate the history of the early pioneers of airline flight in the region. Exhibits cover all of the significant events from the original cargo and mail flights which began in 1920 at Anderson Field, the original airport, through the first passenger flights which started ten years later; right up to the introduction of the jet turbine and the revolution that this brought to the Airline Industry.
There is even a famous bi-plane on display that was used to set the world's nonstop flying record; a record that still stands today. One unusual, but popular exhibit is the ability for civilians to listen in on the conversations between the tower's flight controllers and the pilots of the aircraft taking off and landing. All that is needed is for you to park your car on Sunset Road, just south of the airport, and make sure your FM car radio is tuned to 88.5.
The Amanda and Stacy Darling Memorial Tennis Center
The tennis complex is named in honor of sisters Amanda and Stacy Darling, who died in a tragic automobile accident in 1993. The center court is named after their brother Ronald Darling, who also died tragically in a motorcycle accident in 2001.
Fred Darling, the father of Amanda, Stacy and Ronald, regularly helps to raise money for local charities through the family trust.
The Darling Tennis Center provides multiple opportunities for tennis lovers and enthusiasts to participate in tournaments and leagues, such as the Singles Shootout and the Doubles Shootout. The Memorial Day Classic is held in late May, and the Stacy Darling Classic is held in September.
Beginner and Intermediate players are introduced to the experience of playing in a tournament through participation in the Mini Stars Tour.
The Darling Tennis Center is the largest public outdoor tennis facility in the State with 24 lighted hard courts. The center court has enough seating for three thousand spectators.
St. Viator School
St. Viator School is located at 4246 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, Nevada and was built in 1995. The private school is headed up by Principal Kathleen Daulton, and the school and church serves over five thousand parish families.St. Viator School is an Accredited Coeducational Catholic Parish School and is one of seven primary Catholic schools in Las Vegas.
The priests and brothers responsible for the school are called Viatorians, after St. Viator. The Latin name Viator means wanderer or traveler. The Viatorian order have always been interested in teaching the youth.
The founder of the Clerics of St. Viator, Father Louis Querbes, was born in France during the French Revolution.
The St. Viator Religious Education Program has been designed to prepare students to live their lives as faithful Catholics; to remain life long learners, and to become responsible and co-operative citizens.
The St. Viator Elementary School provides education for grades Pre-K through 8th grade, with 840 students and 24 teachers.
Las Vegas Convention Center
The entire convention center has been designed for flexibility and versatility, and offers a wide array of additional services, such as a full service kitchen, two restaurants and 18 different concession stands.
Additional services include:
a) Fed Ex Business Center with office equipment and supplies, copying, printing, packing and shipping, CD and DVD duplication and computer stations and laptops for rent
b) Smart City telephone, Internet and Data Network
c) On-site Hospital and medical service provider with a 24-hour Consult-A-Nurse hotline
d) Off-site airline baggage check in service that caters to passengers of Delta, Frontier, Southwest, United and U.S. Airways.
The facility also has parking for at least 5,200 vehicles.
Town Square
Town Square in Paradise, Nevada was designed to look like an open air European village with multiple dining options, entertainment and shoppingThere are 15 different dining options available in Town Square; everything from the California Pizza Kitchen to the Kabuki Japanese Restaurant.
Town Square has a wide array of shopping options available, with over 120 stores to choose from.
The main entertainment venue in Town Square is the extremely popular Pete's Dueling Piano Bar, a two piano player concept imported directly from Austin Texas. They describe themselves as a "sing-along, clap-along, drink-along, have-one-helluva-good-time-along" kind of bar, featuring songs from all of your favorite artists performed with characteristic gusto.
In addition for your entertainment pleasure, Town Square also has an 18 screen Rave Movie theater playing all of the latest movies.
Children's Park is conveniently located in the center of Town Square and features a tree house that's been built at the top of a live oak tree, and a mock up military fort, with a bridge that connects them together. There is also a rock wall for climbing, a Pop-Jet fountain with slides and a Hedge Maze cut in the shapes of various animals. In addition there is a beautiful Merry-Go-Round
Town Square Park lies adjacent to Children's Park, and features a quaint bridge with a water fountain and an area set aside for picnics. There is also a pavilion for fashion shows and outdoor concerts. From time to time there may be a special story time session for the kids or a wine tasting event for the adults.
Bigelow Aerospace
Bigelow Aerospace is located at 1899 West Brooks Avenue, North Las Vegas, Nevada.Bigelow Aerospace has spent over ten years researching spacecraft design, and is committed to helping NASA to greatly expand the usable space on the International Space Station.
Robert Bigelow, the President of Bigelow Aerospace, started the company in 1999 with the purchase of a 50 acre plot of land. So far 160,000 sq. ft have been developed into a manufacturing and testing facility along with a mission control room for communicating with orbiting space craft. An additional 180,000 sq. ft is currently being constructed which will more than double the size of the facility, and will radically increase the abilty of Bigelow Aerospace to fulfill their corporate goals.
Bigelow currently has two unmanned prototype spacecraft orbiting the earth - the Genesis I and the Genesis II. However plans are underway to begin manned flights the not too distant future.
However, Bigelow Aerospace is not in the space tourism business like Virgin Galactic- for instance-who settle for transporting individuals to the edge of space for short periods of time. Bigelow is on the frontline of the commercial space industry and specializes in creating civilian space modules that can orbit the earth for many years. Potential clients are sovereign nations and major corporations seeking to conduct biotech research or microgravity experimentation.
