I love the rocky films becuase they truly reflect what each of us needs to thrive in our lives: spirit, drive, determination and the will to dig down deep and take our lives to the next level!
Recall that there's always a point in each of the rocky films where he has to dig down deep inside himself and personally decide if he's got what it takes to drive his body, spirit and mind to that next level... Without fail... he does!!
This is also what i love about MMA fighters. We are the rocky story! What cool examples we have in this sport! Endless heroes have overcome overwhelming odds! People like Georges St. Pierre went from working overtime as a garbage man just to make ends meet and afford to pursue his dream. Through commitment sacrifice and hard work he has now become one of the best and most elite pound for pound athletes in the world today!!
MMA Strength and Conditioning Champions!
There is no doubt that our elite MMA athletes have instilled within themselves an insane work ethic that has ultimately produced the champion they are.Fedor Emelianenko who some regaurd to be the greatest Mixed Martial Artist that's ever lived, grew up struggling just to put food on the table to feed his family. Now he is at the top!
Fedor was once asked in an interview what makes him so great and what makes others not as capable in defeating him. He responded in simple terms. I'm just paraphrazing, but he mentioned that he feels most fighters don't think enough during practices and during the fight. The next part he made mention to was his work ethic in training. He explained he puts more time and dedication into training his body then anyone could ever expect of him.
My interprutation of his comments suggest that you've got to have the right technique "using your brain in training and fighting" but you've also got to have the right athleticism "your strength and conditioning and work ethic refined" We can view elite level fighters today that focus too much on one of those areas and do give enough attention to the other. As a result they'll lose a fight.
MMA Strength and Conditioning Principles/Technique
You've got to have the right source to learn from. I put endless hours into strenghening my body and for years only produced an insane amount of injury's and lack of confidence in myself athleticly.What made the difference? I discovered the right ways to train from the right sources! With that in mind i incorporated proper principles.
#1. I learned the truth and finally was able to shatter all the false rumors and misconceptions about MMA Fitness. I was tought when less is more and what truly creates explosiveness, punching power and supreme cardio vascular fitness.
#2. I Learned how to utilize the correct exercises in their entirety without missing core movements and crucial details.
#3. I Learned from those who knew the science of the body and also knew MMA, not just one or the other. Good references know how to ballance all aspects of strength and conditioning into your weekly schedule & take the guess work out so you can focus more on fighting.
#4. I utilized charts where I could easily document everything! I properly ballanced my focus between fitness and cardio develpement coupled with fighting technique.
To master that correct ballance, means you'll be in the best shape of your life! You'll be able to fight all the way to the end of the fifth round, whether in an MMA challenge match or just simply facing the hardships that may come with life!
Remember.. Train like a champion to fight like a champion!
