Learn MMA Techniques That Win

Looking to learn a solid foundation of MMA techniques that win fights. Nowadays thanks to the popularity of MMA fights, like the UFC MMA gyms are popping up all over the place however many of these gyms do not properly teach the basics or foundational skills of MMA, these gym have become the new Mcdojo's of today, so you need to understand this before you join a gym hoping to be the next Chuck Liddell.

How can you tell if a gym lacks in MMA techniques and skills. Simple just hang around for awhile and watch a few sparring matches, if you see guys throwing alot of wild and crazy punches then you know right there this isn't the gym for you. The same is true for grappling, it usually is better to focus on a club that does grappling rather then a fly by night MMA gym where sure you might learn a technique or two, but if you find yourself in a real fight with a grappler, then your in for a world of hurt.

Your best best, learn the basics behind solid MMA techniques, and you'll be much better off then most of the guys out there.

Defense and Offense Techniques That Win Fights

techniques for mmaIf there is just 1 MMA technique that is responsibly for winning bother offensively and defensively it is footwork. Without good solid footwork, your opponent will find it easy to hit you, take your down and counter punch till you loose. The problem is most amateur fighters take footwork for granted, they all say, ya ya footwork, let's work on my roundhouse cross combination. Truth be told while that may be a nice combination to throw, without some solid footwork, you'll never land it.

Simple MMA techniques for drilling footwork.

The easiest and best way for drilling footwork is to draw two intersecting lines on the ground (tape works great for this) making a cross or "+" sign. The idea behind this is work around the centerline, your opponents line of attack and get used to moving to the 4 squares, cutting the corners etc giving you a stronger positional line of attack all thanks to some fancy footwork.

Start by simply going side to side from the center then get used to moving diagonally, and your feet will soon learn the patterns and before you know it you'll have some deadly set of feet that can evade and counter just about any attack on the planet.

Some things to keep in mind while drilling this MMA technique. Use your legs, Duh..I know it's a footwork drill. By use your legs I mean stay in a solid balance and good stance while moving, is key. The old boxing axiom - Keep the motor in the back of the boat is the secret to solid footwork. Learning to move while still maintaining balance and sitting on that back leg, is the secret that many fighters just can't do. if you can learn this, you'll move not only with speed, but your punches and kicks will have explosive power.
