A few terrific home cooking recipes from Marilyn Brand...

One of the things I miss most from America is the cooking. I am most certainly a "meat and potato" type of guy. Give me Pizza! Cheeseburgers! Steak! I love it all. But I think the food I miss most, is mom's cooking.

I am sure we each think our own mom is the greatest cook in the world, but on this lens, I am going to prove it!

Realizing that, when she could finally get rid of me, I would probably need some help, where not starving to death was concerned, mom made me a cookbook of all her recipes that I had grown up loving.

We are happy to share these long time favorites with you, and hope you enjoy them as much as my brothers and I did (except stewed tomatoes and Okra, those are just plain funky!).

How to make Mobii's Mommy's Meatloaf.....

Here's what you need for this...

Ingredients.....
2lbs Ground beef
2 Tablespoons parsley
2 Beaten eggs
½ Teaspoon basil
¾ Cup bread crumbs
¼ Teaspoon salt & pepper
½ Cup tomato sauce
1 Teaspoon garlic powder
½lbThinly sliced baked ham
2 Cups shredded Mozzarella cheese

Directions:
Combine all ingredients except ham and cheese. Pat it out on foil to a 10 x 12 rectangle. Add alternate layers of ham and cheese. Roll very tightly and pinch ends like a jelly roll. Make sure the roll is tightly sealed.
Pour ½ cup tomato sauce or catsup over top.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hr and 15 to 30 min.

When mom made this, she always served it with macaroni and cheese, and brussel sprouts. It tastes fantastic. it also saves well in the fridge, so you can reheat it, or have hot sandwiches with it for lunch the next day. Enjoy!

Mom's Vanilla Sour cream peach Pie

Dessert! My favorite food group...

Ok, now that you have totally pigged out on mom's meatloaf, what do you do? Simple, lay on the couch, watch football, and whine about how full you are for a while, then go back for dessert! Here's what you need to have this sweet treat ready.....

Ingredients...
6" Graham Cracker crust
1 Cup sour cream
1 Cup milk
1 Package (small) vanilla instant pudding
Cool Whip
Peaches (about 2 or 3)

Directions.....
Prepare crust -- let cool.
Gently beat sour cream and milk until smooth. Blend in the pudding (dry), until smooth and slightly thickened.
Slice 2 or 3 peaches and arrange slices evenly over crust. Pour filling over peaches. Top with a few peach slices. Chill at least 1 hour. If desired, serve with a dollop of cool whip.
