What You Need To Create Squidoo Lenses From Your Mobile Phone

You need only two things to create and edit Squidoo lenses from your mobile device:

* A smartphone, PDA, or Pocket PC with an unlimited data plan. Your service provider will usually make these types of data plans mandatory for internet access on these devices.

* A Java-based mobile browser such as Opera Mini. If you do not already use Opera Mini on your mobile device, simply use it to visit http://mini.opera.com. The site will detect your device type as well as your operating system and provide the appropriate download link.

No guesswork required :-)

Special Considerations and Restrictions

Because mobile technology has limitations, there are some issues of interest that you will need to keep in mind when you create and edit lenses from your mobile phone:

You man need to adjust the Java settings on your phone to upload images. If such is the case, Opera Mini will tell you that you do and offer help instructions. You may have to perform an online search for setting instructions for your particular device - I did. However, for the added capabilities, it was worth it. Also, on my particular phone, even after I adjusted the settings, Opera Mini would sometimes give me the message that recommend I adjust my settings in order to upload an image. I simply click "OK", and it takes me to the next screen with no problem.

Most smartphones do not have click and drag capabilities. This means that you will have to either add modules one by one in the order that you wish, or simply reorder the modules later when you get to a computer.

If you experience any bugs in modules with uploaded images, try adding the image first before the text. I'm not sure if this is device specific or something with Opera Mini, but, as in all things technological, you may experience a bug with the text/write module when you upload an image after you have already saved the text. If you happen to experience that, try uploading and saving the image first and then adding text afterward.

Floating mouse-over menus do not work on most mobile devices. So, you will have to remember a couple special URLs for direct access to certain pages within your Squidoo account:
