I've found that journaling helps me to focus much better during my personal devotional time. The habit of writing down what I'm learning and receiving from the Word of God has made my devotional time something that I look forward to. Putting things down in writing gives me a written record of what I have learnt and how God revealed his wisdom to me over the years. Give journaling a try if you haven't done so.
