My N scale model railroad layout
A model railway scenery with a dead end railroad terminus station and a nice trackplan that fits the size of a bed mattress?
Impossible, you might say. Nevertheless, I tried it.

About: model railroads - and the task
Model railroaders know it: In the beginning there is... no, not the light. It´s the task. (Although we create universes, we are not God....). So here you are:
"Hey guy: Please create a model railroad layout, which features an urban scenery, including a dead end railroad terminus station. And, most of all, make a trackplan, which offers a lot of fun for long trains. And make it look realistic."
No Problem. Give me 5 years, a sports hall and one million dollars.
"Sorry, but you´ve got only 5 weeks and 2 meters x 1 meter!"
Oh damn, who gave me that. Here some impressions....

My model railroad layout

Railroad terminus and city
The complete left side of the layout is covered; the terminus station (as well as the city) is placed on that cover above the tracks. Trains and locomotives run under the city. But, please, don´t call my huge, huge central station a subway layout....!

"Urban" life.....
Model railways and MUSTHAVES
I am German (yes, I know, my English...). What does that mean?
1. We invented wonderful companies such as Fleischmann, Trix, Arnold or Märklin
2. We all live in half timbered houses
Did anybody say, each model railway layout is a little universe? Or just a big cliche?
YES! Half timbered houses are my personal MUST HAVE for model railroading. End of discussion.

Ahm..... and where is the train?
The track plan
As I don´t want to see narrow track bends (even in gauge 1:160 this looks awfully....) I put on the complete right side of the layout a wooden cover, too. There is also a kind of highway bridge, where the rails "disappear" (or do they come out there?)
However - what you don´t like - hide! Furthermore, this gives plenty of space for landscaping, like this little lake, shown in the photo above.

So my model railroad layout has the size of a bed matress (which is, by the way, the reason, why I prefer N scale. For THIS layout in H0 you better have an extra room.....).
