Installing Modern Bathroom Vanities and Vessel Sinks

The big question is what is the difference between a contemporary bathroom vanity and a modern bathroom vanity. For the most part they do the same thing, but the modern variations tend to look a little sleeker and a lot more streamlined. While bigger was better in the past, people seem to enjoy saving space now, so that is what manufacturers have in mind when they create their bathroom vanities.

When you install your bathroom vanity, there are a few things that you need to keep in mind. The first thing that you need to think about is what the vanity is actually made of. If you have one that is composed of glass, then you need to be very careful because if you make a wrong measurement you'll have to reposition the thing once you get it hung on the wall. This is a pain with any vanity, but with a modern bathroom vanity made of glass, you risk dropping it and causing a lot of damage to yourself and the vanity. It wouldn't take much to have your bathroom vanity in pieces all over your bathroom floor!

First and foremost, when you remove the old vanity make sure that you shit the water off. If you don't, you're going to get a nasty surprise. I won't tell you what the surprise is, but if you want to find out, disregard this paragraph. I don't feel too strongly on the subject either way. Usually there will be a shutoff valve below the sink, but if there is not, then you will have to shut off water to the entire house while you are taking care of this little project.

Taking precise measurements involves a couple of things. The first thing that you will need to take into account is where exactly you want to put the vanity. You can't exactly put it anywhere in the bathroom, so what you need to do is take a few precise measurements. Take a look at where your pipes come up out of the wall, and then look at where they would go into your sink. They need to line up perfectly, otherwise you will have a sink and vanity that don't actually work, and no one wants that.

You need to make sure that the vanity you install is level with the floor. In order to do this, you'll need to get a level and check. There are some exceptions, and one of these would be if you check your floor and find that your entire house is off level, in which case you're going to want to make the vanity level. You won't be able to do this if your vanity goes all the way down to the floor, but if it is a wall hung vanity you'll be able to tilt it a little. Doing this will make it so that your tooth paste cap doesn't roll off the counter in the morning.

A modern bathroom vanity is a great idea, especially if you are remodeling. Just make sure that you follow all of the procedures and most of all turn off the water... if you really want to.
