Modern trends in Wedding Photography

Ranked #1,008 in Weddings, #69,384 overall | Donates to Squidoo Charity Fund

A couple of years ago, wedding photography styles was limited to a few rigid photos, with little attention towards the theme, romance and emotions.

However, with time new styles have emerged that completely transformed our way of looking at wedding photography.

New trends such as photojournalism, shooting without posing, shooting at famous landmarks, and the introduction of software for editing photos have altered the way photos are shot at weddings to a large extent.

Here is a description of some of the modern photography trends you will see at weddings these days like Wedding Photography York .

The Photojounalistic Style

Least possible posing coupled with a candid documentary style of shooting pictures best define photojournalistic wedding photography.

Photojournalistic photography has replaced conventional styles to a large degree. This new style focuses on photographing moments filled with romance, feelings, and the whole day as it develops.

In other words, it narrates a story, it shoots moments as they happen without the instructions from the photographer's side.

The theme you select for the wedding has an important role to play in this case as this photography style echoes your personality.

You'll require the right kind of prop items and backdrops to capture the essence of your wedding's theme.

It may be inside water photos, or something lively like cycles and balloons, almost anything which shows an actual glimpse into the couple's chemistry.

Fashion-shoot Style

Many couples wish to spruce up their wedding day with a lot of glamor and shimmer.

A magazine cover style of Wedding Photography York is what they can use to add a fashion oriented touch to the wedding photographs.

Close ups, sophisticated posing, dramatic lights, and different camera angles are all important in achieving trendy pictures you see on magazine covers.

These wedding photos usually require very creative photo editing for the final touches.

Vintage Style

With the comeback of vintage couture, an increasing number of couples have started to opt for wedding themes which have an antique setting, whether it is the decoration or their props.

Such settings call for a photography style which catches the vintage mood.

The use of lights, camera positions, and black and white renditions are all necessary so as to make the photos truly classic.

This photography style also needs heavy photo editing.

Pre and post wedding photo sessions

The couple do not always find enough time to pose for pictures on the wedding day as they're preoccupied with too many things.

Great pictures of the bride and groom and those with the family and friends can be shot at leisure a day before or after the wedding.

In this way you will also get to shoot what happens behind the scenes, funny instances, and the true setting at the wedding. Such photo sessions a day before or post the wedding will let you preserve the memorable times that are created with so much effort.

Nowadays photographers choose a combination of these styles to ensure that there's nothing you have to miss out on.

Inquire the photographer which styles he is familiar with. One-to-one communication, a bit of imagination and a handful of new your ideas are the important elements of an exceptional wedding photo album. Therefore, feel free to share your thoughts and suggestions.

The Hospitium in York like my photos

Two years ago I took Mike and Rowena Rogers wedding photographs at The Hospitium in York.

This year I sent them a sample of the photographs as a thank you for being wonderful co-ordinators and venue hosts. Looking through my web statistics I noticed a lot of visits from The Hospitium website and was pleased to find that they liked the photos so much they are now using them to advertise the venue!

The two photos they chose to use are Mike and Rowena walking through a glade of trees and Rowena chatting with friends at the reception..

Claire & Jamie, A Sunny York Wedding

I was invited by my good friend and fellow photographer Annemarie King to come along for a super sunny wedding this weekend.

I have known Annemarie for a few years now and we each bob along on one another weddings when we have the chance. It's great for us as we have such a ball trying to out do each other with the best photos and it's great for the couple as they get two fab photographers (can I say that about myself?) shooting for them.

It was the hottest day of the year and Jamie told me that he had booked the weather especially for Claire. Here is Jamie getting ready and having a little trouble with his winsor knot.

Claire had chosen a wonderful fairy like wedding dress with fairies and wild flowers as their theme.

They held their wedding at the Church of St. Botolph at Bossall in North Yorkshire. The priest was a family friend who had seen Claire growing up from a young age. Here he is contemplating his service before Claire and her father arrived.

The Bridesmaids arrived by black cab which was decorated in wedding ribbon. It proved to be a great way to arrive as the doors were large enough to get in and out easily. If you'd like to book the taxis you can contact Ian or Dave on 01904 791739.

Claire arrived in a vintage chevvy

Claire and her father were greeted at the Church by their priest.

I cheekily moved up the aisle to capture this fun moment

Claire and Jamie held their reception on Claire's parents farmhouse

One guest had left a present for Claire and Jamie on the top table, a knitted wedding cake!

Annemarie's mum was one of the guests and I took a quick photo of them when I saw them together.

Photos are very important in couples life especially when they are getting married or on the day of their wedding. Even if your are not a professional photographer, as long as you have enough idea on the basics of photography, you don't need to spend 1/4 of your wedding budget in hiring professional photographers.

I enjoyed the post especially the selection ! I do think that trends are emerging photography highly yet in my thinking photos should not be software edited like too much.

My friend is a Byron Bay wedding photographer and he'd be proud to have these in his portfolio for sure. Absolutely love the vintage car shot with a little greenery in the side foreground.
