Modern Warfare 3 - WW3

Infinity Ward is back with the 3rd title in the critically acclaimed Modern Warfare series. Modern Warfare 3 picks up at the the end of MW2 and WW3 is upon us. The battle is taken to England, France, and Berlin, as well as mainland United States. This is sure to be an emotionally charged story, with carnage across New York City as Russian forces lay siege on Manhattan. There are also maps in India and Dubai in the 15 missions of story mode. Multiplayer will feature 20 maps in total, but more than likely some of these will be part of downloadable content available after release.

There was much talk about Infinity Ward being "over" as many staff changes took place after MW2. Treyarch stepped up to the plate with their last entry in the CoD series, Call of Duty: Black Ops. Black Ops smashed previously set video game sales records, selling more copies than any other game in history. Infinity Ward will be bringing out the heavy artillery in Modern Warfare 3 no doubt, especially with the return of modern weaponry and the AC-130.



Modern Warfare 3 is promising some big revisions from MW2. This Call of Duty will reward players for being active and participating in matches, as opposed to just camping a position and getting kills. The Commando perk is out and n00b tubes, and all explosives, will be more balanced according to Robert Bowling, Infinity Ward's Creative Strategist. Infinity Ward went as far as to reduce the regular knife lunge in the game as well. As far as support for gamers after launch, Bowling had this to say:

"We've been building up our infrastructure as a whole since Modern Warfare 2 to focus on extended post-launch support, while MW2 did have patches, it wasn't nearly to the speed and frequency that I would have liked. We fully planned to address that with Modern Warfare 3 with the ability to do smaller fixes more instantly (playlist updates, hot fixes) so the small wait for the patches to cert and release are more enjoyable."

Bowling has also since tweeted about a new, redesigned killstreak system. Details are still fuzzy, for now, but in addition to this we can also expect not to see a return to Last/Final Stand, while we can expect to see quickscoping brought back for sniper classes. Speaking of scopes, in the gameplay footage, the player can be seen switching between two scopes on the same gun! If this is a feature that carries over to online multiplayer matches, then it should make for even more epic battles in this apocalyptic, WW3 shooter.
